Hello everyone, welcome back!
Can you believe it’s almost time for our fifth readalong (excluding Caraval and Legendary, of course)? It’s crazy how much time has flown by. This readalong will be for our featured February book: A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer.
This fantastic book is a modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and follows Harper, Rhen and Grey. It’s such a unique take on this classic tale that I have been dying to read with you guys. Harper lives in Washington DC and is minding her own business… until she’s sucked into Rhen’s cursed world. It’s going to be one awesome adventure, and you can expect every GIF in this readalong to be Beauty and the Beast themed! And full disclosure: I fully intend to listen to The Beauty and The Beast soundtrack on loop whilst I write every readalong post!
I’m so excited to read this book with you guys! If you’re new here, the schedule is below and if this isn’t your first readalong with us then welcome back! We love hosting these readalongs to bring together the awesome FairyLoot community and do something we all love: reading and talking about books!
Every day I, your host for this Readalong, will post some discussion points or observations from the section of the book allocated for that day. The Readalong will last over the course of 7 days, from March 18th – 24th. The below chapters are inclusive! The reading schedule is as follows:
18th of March: Chapters 1 – 9
19th of March: Chapters 10 – 16
20th of March: Chapters 17 – 23
21st of March: Chapters 24 – 31
22nd of March: Chapters 32 – 38
23rd of March: Chapters 39 – 49
24th of March: Chapters 50 – End
Each day we will tackle approximately 60-80 pages. If this is too much or too little for your usual reading speed, please feel free to adjust to your schedule! You can join us at any time and there is no pressure – read at your own pace. The posts will be here for you to read whenever you want to, as will all of the comments!
There will be spoilers for that allocated book section so we can freely share our thoughts for what just happened and predictions as to what will follow! I’m already so excited to hear all of your theories and can’t wait to hear what you think about these characters.
As always, there will be a readalong exclusive competition to win your next box for free! We always believe reading should be encouraged! Details on how to enter to come soon!
Instagram will remain a spoiler free zone, but please make sure to tag us in your readalong stories when you get ready for a reading session – we absolutely LOVE seeing these and often repost them to our stories. You guys always look so cozy when you’re reading! If you take Instagram photos of the book, you might also find your photo being featured in a post too (with due credit, of course!). Just remember to tag your Instagram photos with the #fairyloot hashtag.
I’ll pop on to our Instagram stories daily to remind you as well, but you can always set a reminder on your phone.

First of all, I am glad you get to join us this time Anissa =) I am sure it’ll be a blast just as all the other readalongs.
As I said before these are always one of the things I look forward to the most when getting my fairyloot box. And this time it’s a beauty and the beast retelling <3 I so cannot wait untill I can get into this book, and it is just gorgeous (right guys?) so thanks for picking that one.
