-!SPOILERS!-

I feel so terrible for Vic, he has Nurse Ratched and Rambo and Hap but losing Gio has hit him incredibly hard, as you’d expect.

I’m not at all surprised that Vic’s decided to go after Gio despite his warnings not to. It’s the right thing to do, and Vic is a good person.

Their first task? Find the Blue Fairy. They helped Gio get out, which surely means they can help Vic get in, right?

Through the Old Ones, they manage to procure a map. It’s a long way to the City of Electric Dreams, and I’m sure it won’t be an easy journey, but they’re going to do it nonetheless!

Vic and Hap have a moment alone, and Hap tells him he doesn’t want to remember his old life. He’s Hap, not Harp. He assures Vic he won’t kill him. I believe him as well!

Suddenly along their journey they come across a house. While they spend time deciding whether to go into the house, the inhabitant seems to stumble across them anyway. He calls himself The Coachman. They introduce themselves to the Coachman, and he doesn’t seem to suspect that Vic is a human… yet.

Oh dear… the Coachman is a collector, he has a museum of sorts, and I’m getting the feeling that he wants our comedic quad to become part of his display…

Ah, lovely. He’s trapped them. This is quite the pickle isn’t it?

Nurse Ratched seems confused when the Coachman starts speaking of humans in the past tense, as if they’re no longer around… is Vic the last?

There’s another spanner in the works, the authorities have shown up. There’s four of them, three being the smooth men and the other being… Hap. It’s not Hap though, or not our Hap, but a HARP. Something tells me a HARP won’t be as protective as our Hap. HARP is looking for humans. Oh dear. The Coachman manages to pass the inspection but it’s obviously made something click within him, as he returns, he’s ready to attack.

The Coachman is brought down a peg or too, and is incredibly excited to discover Vic is human. Even the Coachman urges Vic not to look for Gio, but to go somewhere and keep himself safe. He tries to tell Vic that Gio won’t remember him.

Humans are gone, extinct, and all because of Gio and HARPs. To the Coachman’s knowledge, Vic is the only human left. This is bad.

Do you trust the Coachman?
Do you think he’ll help them find Gio?
What do you think the future holds for Vic if he’s the only human left?

This section has been a whirlwind! I’m so nervous for tomorrows!

Love,
Shannon

I’m loving this! The strangeness of it all is so good!

I do not trust the Coachman at all – I think he’ll give them away as soon as the authorities appear again. I do think he’ll help up until that point though. I honestly don’t have a clue what Vic will do if he is the only human (I suspect more will appear at some point).

I still don’t think robots are my thing but this book is really good so far! The characters are amazing!

I’m not sure what to make of the Coachman, he’s really creepy! And I’m worried he might want to keep Vic for his collection! I’m not sure if him offering to help is because he’s genuinely nice or if its an act – him calling humans pest could have been an act itself because he thought they were all robots but also he only really helped Gio before because he owed a debt. I need to read more to make my mind up about him really.

I’m not sure he’ll join them in actually finding Gio yet but I imagine he’ll take them into the city and to the Blue Fairy. Maybe if they do find Gio he’ll return them to the forrest, but I’m not sure he’ll be too involved in the rescue.

I think Vic will be sad that he’s possibly the last human left but he’ll probably go back to his old life with the family he has. If they rescue Gio perhaps he will make more humans but I’m not sure, it seems quite dangerous to do that when there are HARPs running around getting rid of them!

I have entered the giveaway, my Instagram is read.ingbee. I said Vic should stay where he was, I feel like this whole thing is just going from bad to worse. I am not a fan of the Coachman, he feels very nefarious but in a kinda stupid way. He really came out of nowhere and none of them had any stranger danger training. His museum was very interesting and I hope that he let Vic have a few of his relics, spare sweaters, and such so that he can stay well-equipped. I am not sure if I believe that Vic is the last human, I have been holding out hope that Gio lied to keep Vic from going after other humans. Plus with HARPs still running around that means that there are in theory still humans to hunt down. I will see what happens as the story develops more.

The land of toys was creepy and reminded me of the land of toys in the Christmas movie all the lost and unwanted creations chucked off onto an island to be all alone.

I don’t trust the Coachman at all. I think he will probably ditch them in the City of Electric Dreams and be like “good luck bye lol” but I hope I am wrong and he actually pulls through.
I really need them to find Gio and save him, he is too good and Vic and co need it.
As I read I start to wonder if Vic is the only human or if there are more in the City and he’ll find out that they exist but maybe in small numbers.

Do you trust the Coachman? I didn’t at first, but now I think there is hope he’ll turn out good in the end

Do you think he’ll help them find Gio? Yeah I think he will

What do you think the future holds for Vic if he’s the only human left? Not sure, maybe there are more humans hiding away somewhere?

I think I’m growing to trust the Coachman, perhaps foolishly, but his reaction to Vic just seemed so earnest and he seems to fit the vibe of the rest of the group.

I know logically I’m not supposed to trust him, as an android but also as a genuinely sketchy dude who abducted them in the first place ? but I do want to!

In terms of humanity returning, I’m wondering if some kind of hybrid is the future in the story, using the idea of the created hearts as a base? There might also be resistance pockets of humans left but it seems so unlikely given how skilled Giovanni was at hiding and how remote he was, and still making a mistake after 21 years– plus they theoretically died out hundreds of years ago.

This seems silly but was I the only one who assumed that we were already supposed to know Vic was the only human left?

I didn’t trust the Coachman when we first met him, but I think he’s either going to /help/, now that he knows who/what Vic is, or he’s going to be :: cough, cough :: coerced into helping [see Hap and Nurse]. He seems too enraptured in humans to turn Vic and his party in, is my theory.

I don’t know. I think he might share what he knows [again, willingly or coerced], but I don’t know, honestly, how far he /could/ help, even if he wanted to [and I don’t know how much he wants to, even with Vic being human]. He seems rather selfish, and I can’t tell how far his selfishness goes.

I don’t know. Part of me thinks Vic /isn’t/ the last human, and he maybe joins them, but I’m also wondering if Vic finding out there are more humans, and therefore the “burden” of being the last human [because how could you not feel some sort of crazy high expectation at being the last living one of your kind??] is taken off of his shoulders, will give him the freedom to return to the life he’s loved with his robot family, remote and peaceful.

I’m excited to see how it all goes, though!

    1. Do you trust the Coachman?
No, the Coachman reminds me a bit of Stromboli, where Pinocchio joins the puppet show. They might be let to believe it is the best course of action to “trust” the Coachman, but it won’t be.

    2. Do you think he’ll help them find Gio?
I do think he’ll help them, but for a price. He has been obsessed with humans for a long time and collecting things linked to humans, so I don’t think he’ll just let Vic go. Especially since he is believed to be the last human.

    3. What do you think the future holds for Vic if he’s the only human left?
Not much, he’ll live his life amongst the robots and androids. Maybe he’ll create a human life as well.

    Do you trust the Coachman?
I didn’t before but I think his love for humans will come in handy for Vic especially since the coachman thinks Vic is the last human alive.

Do you think he’ll help them find Gio?
I think after he realizes he can’t talk the group out of rescuing Gio he will help.

What do you think the future holds for Vic if he’s the only human left?
I think Vic will live a long happy live with his robot companions. He will either find a way to make himself live longer with the help of technology or transport his consciousness into a robot. If he is unable to do that then he will figuratively live forever in the robots whom he gave a second chance. I don’t think Klune will push a marriage of birthed family on Vic as he is so uncomfortable with the thought of sex or sexual relationships that it would seem very odd and forced to push an asexual character into a marriage or sex for the sake of saving humanity.

I will be entering into the photo challenge. My username is Mangapenguin.

    I’m loving this book!!!
At the begging I didn’t trust at all the Coachman, I still don’t fully trust him but I will give him a chance. It seems he wants to help Vic find Gio but I have a feeling his going to ditch them if something goes wrong. I think Vc will live a happy life surrounded by his androids friends/family, maybe his going to search for more humans. I don’t really think they’re fully extinct, they must be hiding.

I definitely don’t trust the Coachman. Whatever loyalty he has to Victor is based purely on fascination and curiosity of the human race. If it came down to him or Victor, he would choose himself and let Vic die. But I do think he’ll at least help our protagonist out on his way to the Electric City, while most likely staying behind in a very distant, very safe location.

If Victor truly is the last human left (which I currently do not believe), then he’ll simply make more. He’s a creator, like his father. Gio figured out how to create a human, and Vic will too. Though it might be a while until they’ve repopulated the entirety of the world, I believe Vic will bring back humanity. Or find what is left of it, hidden and waiting somewhere.

I also entered the giveaway! My inastagram account is @nymphie_reads! It’s a new account because I actually didn’t have one before. This is my first FairyLoot book and I never had a reason to make my own insta account for reading before. But I’m super excited to have it now!
