Good luck!

Today we are reading from Chapter 11 to the end of Chapter 16! Let’s go!

Please be warned, the following section will include spoilers for Nectar of the Wicked by Ella Fields from chapter 11 to 16. Please only read on if you have finished this section!

Our main character has not seen Florian since they had their dinner and is playing with Snow when she hears a weird noise. Like any main character, she has to go and explore what that sound was, when I would run a mile if I heard strange sounds…!

She goes into a cellar where the strange sound is coming from and encounters a man in a dungeon. The prisoner is shell shocked when he sees her! He calls her ‘Tullia’ and says that she is a Princess of Baneberry?! But before he can tell her anymore, Florian appears out of nowhere and kills him. Our main character, who we finally discover is called Tullia, is feeling the deep feeling of betrayal, realising that Florian has been using her in his quest for vengeance! Did anyone see any of this coming? I’m definitely a bit shocked!

The word ‘Tullia’ apparently derives from a species of butterfly, which explains his nickname for her…he’s known all along and our main character doesn’t know what to feel or do about this situation. She escaped from one monster to potentially have fallen into the lap of another.

Tullia wants to know more about her father, the King of Baneberry who has sent men to search for her, and starts to hatch a plan to escape from Florian… is anyone else screaming just talk to him!

Florian and Tullia are finally speaking but they don’t seem to be getting anywhere and Tullia is understandably confused and upset! Florian has been withholding too much information and she feels can’t trust him anymore.

Tullia is currently snapping at everyone, which I don’t blame her as she has realised why everyone was so cold to her. I definitely feel bad for her to have been the only one in the dark!

Snow is brought into the manor because she has been freezing in the stables, the poor baby, but also because Tullia knows that Florian will hate that. I love seeing the range of Tullia’s emotions after being repressed for so long!

We are starting to see more of how Florian is taking revenge against Baneberry. I can kinda see now why people are so wary of him, he’s definitely a ruthless King.

As usual our main characters’ chemistry is sizzling hot but while their bodies may like each other there is so much that needs to be unpacked. Does anyone else just want them to work through it so we can have some more cute moments?

The next day Tullia finally meets someone from another Kingdom, Queen Oleander of the Southern Kingdom of Folkyn. Through talking to her, Tullia gets to find out a bit more of Florian’s past and what he was like when his Father and sister were alive. How he had basically raised his little sister after his mother died, and his father’s spirit had died with her. Oh dear I am feeling pretty sorry for Florian, no wonder he went pretty crazy after she died!

We find out that Tullia is currently going through the final stages of turning into a mature faerie…where many will discover if they have any magical abilities and a higher chance of finding a mate! At the word mate, is anyone else having any suspicions of the intense connection between Florian and Tullia…?

This process of ‘evolving’ is giving Tullia a hard time and Florian threatens to end anyone that she might want and that he would make her watch. Although I’m not sure why he’s so mad because I’m pretty sure she only wants him!

After all this dancing around each other again, they are off to the festival. Despite his revenge and everyone knowing who Tullia is, Florian is showing her off by making him sit in his lap. Honestly no wonder this poor woman is confused, I am too!

Tullia is very embarrassed and her patience is wearing thin and goes to find some air. The moment she leaves however, Florian is seen talking to another woman. Some  Faeries taunt Tullia, explaining that they are on and off again ex lovers. Angered, she storms off but is surrounded by three very creepy Fae men, who grab onto her without permission. Florian sees this and flies into a rage and forbids Tullia from leaving the manor rooms… I sense some angry stabbing is about to happen…

What do we think is happening between Tullia and Florian? Their connection is very intense…
Do we have any theories as to why Tullia was left in Crustle as a baby?

I cannot wait to hear all your thoughts!

See you tomorrow for some more reading!

Love,
Isla

Not Florian calling her butterfly this whole time, teasing her with the truth 💀 he’s so wrong for that 😂
And their connection does seem super intense (dare I say…. mate like intensity 🤭) but I’m loving it so far

I am also thinking fated mates!!!

Do we have any theories as to why Tullia was left in Crustle as a baby?
It was mentioned that he sent her away to hide her from Florian, though he argued he would never have harmed a babe. So much coming out but I do wonder if her father is actually the tyrant king since so many people in Florian’s court have such a distaste towards him (and by extension her) and Florian isn’t so bad 🤔🤔

Probably going to read ahead 🫢🫢

It would be very interesting if they were fated mates…it’s already complicated enough! I don’t think Florian is that bad either!

    OMW I called it! Hahahaha.
Loving that new found attitude and defiance! Now let me call the next one. and he will help her during this heat thing and discover they are mates

I recon her biological dad is actually a terrible person and doesn’t actually care about her only for political reasons probably. I think mom sent her away to protect her from the dads probably evil plans. why else would you not look for your child for 20 years or leave a protector by her side when the enemy could literally just pick her up as he did. Which leads me to believe daddy dearest didn’t know where she was to begin with.

    • Isla

I agree! I love that she is showing some more attitude! I do hope that they are mates! I have the feeling too that her biological dad is not a good person…I think he knew but obviously just didn’t care until he could use her…

I am obsessed so far with the story! I cant get enough of it, it has been so hard to stop each night. I am eating up our broody dark fae king.

What do we think is happening between Tullia and Florian? Their connection is very intense…
I am guessing they are mates, the tension, the immediate connection and being drawn to each other. I think Florian might know.

Do we have any theories as to why Tullia was left in Crustle as a baby?
I think there is more to the Baneberry king then we know, I think he may truly be the evil one in this story. Maybe Tullia’s mom sent her away to protect her from him.

    • Isla

I am so glad to hear how much you are loving it, me too! I had to stop myself from reading too much in one go! I think Florian has an inkling that they could be mates but he definitely doesn’t want to say that out loud. That could be the case, I’m getting a bad feeling about her dad.

Insert usual rant about dumb comment box here. Anyway.

What do we think is happening between Tullia and Florian? Their connection is very intense…
Im starting to think i might have been onto something when i wondered if they were mates…

Do we have any theories as to why Tullia was left in Crustle as a baby?
Nope! Im just glad we’re getting some more info in general. Florian may be cruel at times but i feel like her dad might be even worse.

I’ll be entering the giveaway as @sonata_ix. With better spelling. Because IG hates me less than WordPress.

    1. What do we think is happening between Tullia and Florian? Their connection is very intense…
Their connection is intense indeed! To be honest, it wouldn’t surprise me if they are mates. She won’t know that until after finishing The Heat, but that would explain the palpable tension between the two that was there from the very first moment they met. This instant connection and attraction that only occurs between those two.

    2. Do we have any theories as to why Tullia was left in Crustle as a baby?
There are two options; 1. If her father believed Florian would/could harm her as a babe, he could’ve left her to keep her save, to be brought home later maybe? 2. She was stolen from her family as part of Florians plan to marry her later on. He knew who is was and where to find her, so it’s not a stretch to believe he had something to do with her ending up in Crustle in the first place and having played the long game.

That’s an interesting theory and could totally be the case that she was stolen from her family for Florian’s plan!

What do we think is happening between Tullia and Florian? Their connection is very intense…
I wonder if they are mates or something along those lines. He seems to be fighting a pull towards her but also trying to go through with his plan at the same time.

Do we have any theories as to why Tullia was left in Crustle as a baby?
Florian said her dad tried to hide her from him so I wonder if her dad was the one who switched her in the first place to get her out. Maybe he always knew where she was and was only doing it to keep her safe.

I’ll be posting my pic on the 24th on my Instagram @dnjreads

I love how Florian was lowkey hinting at what her name is the whole time 😮

To say I was shocked (even though I should’ve seen it coming) is the least I could say. I’m curious as to why Florian kept this a secret from Tullia though! It makes me curious about his agenda!

Love the touch her and you die vibes!

I do think that Tullia and Florian will be mates but I am wondering who the guy that rescued her from the faieries and told her to go the florist is. I’m thinking he’s the guy from the Wild Hunt and he was also in the alley outside Lair of Lust. I can’t help but wonder how that ties into anything.

I feel like she believes she was left in Crustle for a good reason but at some point we’ll meet her dad and find out he’s even worse than Florian just to sort of drive her more to him

I think they’re mates, and that’s the wrench that’s been thrown into Florian’s plans for her – he’s finding it impossible to kill her, like I guessed, though mates hadn’t been a thought when I guessed that. Learning about mates through a female-only event/body function is interesting, too.
I think it’s been obvious for awhile that she was left in Crustle to hide her from Florian, and I still believe that to be true.

  • Alex Shaffer

I do have a feeling that these two are mates. So far, i’m not loving the match just because Florian has all of the power. Tullia seems kinds of helpless. I still have a feeling her family accidentally killed the sister. Or there was some kind of misunderstanding. But maybe her father is truly evil
