-!SPOILERS!-

Starting off today’s reading with a somewhat tender moment? It’s almost as if Seokga is a block of ice that’s starting to thaw around Hani.

Him saying his cheeks started heating under her glare? AND then referring to her laugh as ‘bright and sparkling like the morning sunshine’ ??? Now MY cheeks are heating. He’s so down bad and doesn’t even know it yet.Seokga and Hani emabrk on their journey to find the witness, whilst Dok-hyun has been imprisoned until further notice. Seokga instructs the Chief to go check if there really is a stack of books in the library on Eoduksini that could explain Dok-hyun’s almost intimate knowledge…

We learn that Hani has a fear of water and I really hope this isn’t foreshadowing something happening to her relating to water later in the book… maybe I’m just a tad cynical? But the fact she can only swim in her fox form and not her human form… I guess we will find out. πŸ‘€

Wow Seokga sure loves comparing Hani to the sun but honestly? I’m here for it. πŸ₯°

Not them getting into a literal FIGHT and then falling down a hill after arriving in the hidden village to look for the witness!! I mean, we all knew it would happen at some point but that was kind of intense…
At least there’s a silver lining to their fight: they’ve stumbled into the very village where their witness is hiding. A rather amusing twist of fate…

Suddenly, they find themselves surrounded by small but vicious child-like creatures known as Baegopeun Gwisin, infamous for their people-eating tendencies.

Hani deliberately holds back her dagger skills to keep her identity hidden from Seokga, but it costs her. A Baegopeun Gwisin bites her leg deeply before Seokga kills it.

Him taking off his tunic and giving it to her to wrap around her leg is actually a really sweet gesture, right? The bar isn’t set that low, is it?…

Thankfully, their efforts pay off as they find the witness, Ji-ah, hiding and bring her back to a nearby hotel.

Seokga is clearly worried about Hani and even goes to a pharmacy to buy her medicine and bandages. My heart! He doesn’t hate her as much as he claims.

β€˜The God and the Gumiho are glaring at each other.’  I will never tire of seeing a book’s title within the actual story. It’s like a little treat.
ONE BED TROPE. I REPEAT: THE ONE BED TROPE IS HAPPENING. STAY CALM EVERYONE.

OMG. THEY WERE CUDDLING EACH OTHER IN THEIR SLEEP. I am screamingggg.

The next day, they speak with Ji-ah about what she saw that night. She describes a man with shadows flowing from him, graying hair, glasses, and a black coat with a symbol resembling a lab coat. Could this mean the Eoduksini is really Lee Dok-Hyun?

After Ji-ah confirms that Dok-Hyun is the Eoduksini, Seokga tries to call Chief Shim but gets no response. Something is wrong; both the chief and the precinct are unreachable.

Suddenly, Ji-ah becomes suspicious of them both, thinking they might be monsters, and flees. They make the tough decision to leave her behind and search for a Yojeongβ€”a fairy who can tell them what happened at the precinct.

Of course, Seokga knows where to find a Yojeong nearby, and he and Hani begin the trek up her mountain. The fairy agrees to help them find the Eoduksini, but only if Seokga and Hani share a kiss. Hmm, I wonder why she asked for thatβ€”what could she possibly know?
Let’s talk about their first kiss – I’m swooning! Firstly, he moved her hair out of her face before kissing her (cuteee), he runs his hands through her hair and cups her face whilst kissing her (even cuter), and Hani describes the kiss as feeling β€˜right.’ Are these two somehow connected or destined for each other? What do you think?

The Yojeong then reveals that the precinct has fallen, but Chief Shim is still alive, and that Seokga is lost in a sea of deception. The rest remains a riddle. Armed with this information, the two head back toward the city.

I think β€˜overgrown heating pad’ might be one of my new favourite insults.πŸ˜‚

THE TENSION IN THE AIR – they’re basically admitting they like each other after their little cuddling session.

Shim is alive, but the night shift officers aren’t. The Eoduksini attacked the precinct, killing everyone and leaving Dok-Hyun missing. Could the Eoduksini be someone close to Dok-Hyun, or is it just a ploy to make us think it’s him? Maybe I’m overthinking…
Does anyone else feel a bit sorry for Hani? I can’t imagine the guilt and mental turmoil she must be going through, especially as she starts to like Seokga, who is also her enemyβ€”even if he doesn’t know it.

Hani and Seokga are put on a shift to watch Dok-hyun’s house incase he returns.

Cackling at Seokga’s reaction to be referred to as the cheese in a mousetrap.

The fact that he’s now admitting he wants her has me so excited, but I’m also anxious about how he’d react if he knew her true identity. The more they fall for each other, the more nervous I get. Anyone else feeling the same way?

ANOTHER KISS!!!

Well, today’s reading ends on a rather, exciting note.

Do you think Dok-hyun really is the Eoduksini?

Are you swooning over their cute moments as much as I am?

Do you have any theories about why the Yojeong asked them to kiss as part of the bargain?

I’m excited to hear what you think, fairies!

Best,
Jodie

I love that Seokga needs to eat to replenish his energy and doesn’t ignore this, and that Hani loves snacks! I can’t stand it when characters don’t eat or skip meals – it’s a pet peeve.
So Dok-Hyun is confirmed as the baddie, and now I’m questioning it. For some reason I wonder if his father did not in fact die and he’s the one who went to get him out. Maybe that’s why Dok-Hyun was researching demons, to help his father?
There’s something going on with Somi, but Hani is distracted… again this makes me nervous.
I also thought the fairy must know something (like they’re soulmates or whatnot), otherwise asking them to kiss as payment is just a silly way to move the plot forward.

The romance so far feels a bit forced to me, but am intrigued to see how their relationship develops further. I was not expecting the one bed trope omg. Or that they had to kiss eachother to get the information. Or the scene in the car.

I have entered the giveaway πŸ™‚ My instagram handle is @lizreadsbooks13 <3

Thank you as always for the opportunity. I posted on IG and my handle is @karenholmeswrites
These chapters had me swooning, they are so cute, but I fear what will happen when Seokga discovers her identity, and feels betrayed after he warmed up to her.
I didn’t understand the why the Yojeong asked them to kiss, I thought it was just convenient but maybe she knew something needed to happen and so she asked them to kiss to trigger it.
I feel like Dok-hyun is too easy to be the real Eoduksini, he was signeled too early and it feels like there will be someone else.

    • Jodie

I was swooning too! I’m so nervous to find out if her identity will be revealed and what Seokga’s reaction will be…πŸ‘€

THE TENSION, THE KISS, THE CUDDLING

ah these chapters were my absolute favourite when reading. i loved how when they left the city they seemed to get more closer to each other and just behave more freely. I think Yojeong asked them to kiss only for her own entertainment, but ah how i loved that they finally kissed! They are just to cute together. Totally swooning over here also.

ONE BED TROPE FOR THE WIN!!! I loved their cuddle scene so much, it was just such a sweet moment amidst the literal turmoil and bloodshed happening all around them. I also really loved how Seokga took the time to clean and bind her wounds. It really is the little things!!
Is anyone else worried about Somi…? And how she’s handling the buzz of the liver?
I feel like Dok-Hyun being the Eoduksini would be too easy.. or maybe he was just a temporary vessel and someone else has been possessed at the precinct.
To me, Yojeong represents the typical trickster fairies we all know and love. I think her making them kiss was just a typical trickster moment, but I also think she could sense their chemistry and connection and wanted to force their hand a little in the right direction.
Also Hani’s love of snacks and sweet treats… same girl, same.

Do you think Dok-hyun really is the Eoduksini?
I do, I wonder if it’s always been in his family.

Are you swooning over their cute moments as much as I am?
Yes, I’m so excited to see what happens now that they both have said they like each other now.

Do you have any theories about why the Yojeong asked them to kiss as part of the bargain?
I think she could see the tension between them and wanted to annoy Seokga.

Omigosh! Such a good section! The cuddling, the kissing, the truth or dare game! I am here for it! I am loving these two so much. I’m wondering if it’s really him but I think he might have just been a disguise. I also wonder if Yojeong can sense something between them. I can’t wait to see what happens next! I also entered the giveaway and my handle is @pepperjacks9.

The cuddling had me grinning so much, I love them! πŸ₯Ί

Man, I bet Yojeung did it to troll both of them, and she might know that Hani is the Scarlet Fox. Or, ya know, she totally is matchmaking and shipped them immediately. But the one bed trope? The forced proximity kiss? So. Dang. Cute! Loving where this is going, though it’s definitely going to hurt when it finally comes out that Hani is the other half of Seogka’s bargain. I’ve posted my photo under @marimoosereads on Instagram!

    Swooning over these two!

I don’t think Dok-Hyun is the Eoduksini. I think he is falsely accused (or is being a puppet).

It feels like they really jumped into the “lovers” role really quick. Maybe it is me, but anyone else feel like Enemies to Lovers books skip over friendship pretty fast? It is nice to see Seokga does enjoy more than just coffee now ^^

I think the kiss was asked because Yojeong knows Hani is the Scarlet Fox and something will happen to either her or Seokga. Maybe to see if Seokga can love something or have attachment to something that he will have to decide to kill her or not if he finds out her true identity.

Hani and Seokga falling for each other is so cute. I found it odd though that the Yojeong asked them to kiss as part of the bargain. One theory I have is that she knows Seokga is falling hard for Hani and that once he finds out she’s the Scarlett Fox he’s going to get hurt. So it was her way of putting her revenge on him for leaving her. I entered the giveaway my IG is @bexxmf

I was the thinking the same as one of the comments above – that maybe Dok-Hyun’s father didn’t die and he has something to do with it. Omg i am swooning! The cuddle scene and the kiss😍 i love them. I think the Yojeong just picked up on the tension between them and thought it would be funny to watch them try and deny it. Love how these chapters ended.

  • claire.ramson87

I definitely think that Dok-hyun is the Eoduksini, that scene when he was licking his lips during the autopsy, creeped me out and made me super suspicious of him.

The bedroom scene had me screaming!!! Hani waking up in Seogka’s arms, questioning herself as to what is happening and then just going back in for a cuddle. Seogka waking up in sheer horror thinking he can move out of the bed without her knowing they were cuddling when she woke first. I was like EEEEEK!!!

I think Yojeong knows that they like each other, I mean she can see the future in some way so she must know that Hani is the Scarclet Fox. The riddles that she speaks however dont seem to point out that Hani is the Scarlet Fox… or at least I haven’t worked them out yet.

I am still doubting whether the Eoduksini possesses Dok-hyun. I think his recently deceased father, isn’t so deceased.
I love the petty ways Hani tries to annoy Seokga. I am thoroughly enjoying the slow-burn situation.
Yojeong wants to get back at Seokga. She must know that Huni and Seokga are fated, but also knows that the truth will nearly break their red string. I’m crossing my fingers that it doesn’t.
I will be posting my entry soon on Insta @my.book.voyages
