Hi fairy family!

It’s day four of our readalong of The Half King by Melissa Landers!Β

Today we are reading from Chapter 20 – Chapter 27. When you’ve finished today’s section, catch up with me in the comments down below so we can discuss all of your theories. Happy reading!

Please be warned, the following section will include spoilers for The Half King by Melissa Landers from chapter 20 – 27. Please only read on if you have finished reading this section!

Oh no Cerise and Kian have had their first argument! Cerise thinks that having a child would be better than having the Order on the throne and Kian is furious that she would call him selfish for not considering it…

As Cerise has never had a proper argument before she’s confused, doesn’t know how to put her thoughts into words and Kian comforts her by explaining to her that he still cares for her. πŸ₯Ί

They tell Daerick about Cerise’s magic and she tests her blood with the fire which turns black! But Daerick also has another theory that Cerise is actually a Priestess!Β

They test Kian’s compulsion on her and that theory is correct! Cerise is the first Priestess that they are aware of…

Oh no! Cerise is probably not her fathers child, but who is Cerise’s father then??Β

Cerise talks to Nina and tells her everything. Cerise’s biological father is dangerous and her father had claimed her so that she would be protected at the temple!

Cerise agrees to not go looking for him but honestly how could she not be curious??Β

Unfortunately as it means she isn’t a Solon, they’ll need to travel back to the castle for Cole Solon or they won’t be able to claim the Petros blade. They also debate whether it could be a priest and if so was it Father Padron? The end up dismissing the idea but I wouldn’t be so sure somehow…

Cerise tells Nero as she would like him to train her, she needs to be able to master her gifts in order to hide them from the Order.

Nero explains that everyone has different amounts of energy but if they use too much it’ll exhaust them. Cerise manages to move the water like Nero asked but goes above and beyond. It seems like Father Padron, Cerise might be blessed with a lot of energy.

After a night apart Kian comes to a decision that Cerise won’t like. He doesn’t want her to sacrifice herself for him so he commands her to live. Omgg this could definitely affect everything between them?!Β

Poor Daerick, although his claiming day is near, he too is beginning to feel his curse early. 😭

They have found the Petros blade but of course it’s in a pool of acid and in a place where magic does not work!Β

Cerise offers her blood and to her and Nero’s eyes only a staircase and a voice appears telling them that two must enter! I’m so so intrigued!!Β

Ooo it’s trial time in an underground temple! There are multiple trials as the voice commands them to prove themselves bold and deserving. Cerise refuses to sacrifice Nero for the blade and for that reason is why she was able to claim the blade!Β

Kian is upset that Cerise didn’t know if her choice to not sacrifice Nero would kill her. But for once Cerise is proud of having faith in herself instead of listening to the orders of men!

They are to hold a ceremony to complete the ritual but something is worrying Cerise about Father Padron’s lack of speaking and wanting to be included in the ritual. She fears he knows something they don’t…

Cerise takes Kian to the underground realm and he’s in awe of the separate realm that many didn’t know about!Β

They finally have some time to themselves away from everyone and get to know each other more! Wow, that was very *steamy*! But I really hope they get a happy ending!Β  πŸ₯Ί

I’m honestly so invested in Cerise’s character growth and all of these little hints and plots twists are keeping me on the edge of my seat! I hope you’re all enjoying this as much as I am! I’ll see you all tomorrow for our final day of reading!

Who do you think Cerise’s father is?
Do you think there are any other Priestesses hiding around them?
What are your theories for tomorrow’s final section?

Love,
IslaΒ

My first thought for her dad was Father Padron, but she seemed pretty against that, saying it didn’t feel right. I think Cole will announce who it is at the worst possible time 🀣
I’m not sure how this is going to end, Padron being more reclusive has left me unsure of his role in everything.
Bring on the next section so hopefully our questions will be answered!

I couldn’t even begin to hazard a guess about Cerise’s father. But there HAS to be other priestesses. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

There must be and I cannot wait to find out even more about this world!

My only guesses are Cole or Padron. Surely there MUST be other priestesses! I feel like we’ve only seen a very small glimpse of the world so far. I don’t have any theories but Padron’s silence is making me anxious. I think he’s going to be a major player in the end somehow.

I have no idea how this book will wrap up in the next section. I am so anxious of a cliff hanger, idk if I will be able to take it!

Who do you think Cerise’s father is?
My first thought is Father Padron, but maybe it was another priest or stranger fathered her. Definitely someone powerful.
Do you think there are any other Priestesses hiding around them?
Yes, definitely. There has to be if there are other magical beings who are not priests.
What are your theories for tomorrow’s final section.
I honestly have no idea, I think Padron knows more than he is letting on, and I think the Priests played a big part in the betrayal.

Me too… but I’m so intrigued, I think it’s going to be big!

    Daily Q&A:
    Q:
1.) Who do you think Cerise’s father is?
2.) Do you think there are any other Priestesses hiding around them?
3.) What are your theories for tomorrow’s final section?
    A:
1.) Currently, Father Padron seems the most likely (he’s been inflicting punishment on himself for Β½ his life – ~20 years – to atone for what sin?), but Cole Solon seeming to recognize her (& having had all this time to figure out why) makes me feel like he will be the 1 to bring that truth to light, whoever it may be.
2.) I feel like there’s should be, but it would definitely be harder to hide than a priest with fire blood. I also feel like Cerise being the only priestess would make her more special but also more alone (plus, having more priestesses would make things go even more against the priests/Order’s teachings/brainwashing).
3.) I’m not sure I have any theories so much as a general anticipating for what’s to come & a bit of dread that this book will end on a hell of a cliffhanger. If anything, I’m watching for Cerise’s uneasy feeling about Father Padron being quiet/withdrawn to come to light & whatever bombshell Cole Solon is bound to bring when they collect him.
