–!SPOILERS!–

After the ending of yesterday’s chapters, I’ve been nervously anticipating today’s. Kierse and Graves are now on an airplane flying back home. When she finally awakens, he gives her an antidote to what turned out to be Imani’s magic after all. This raises the question: is Kierse really immune to magic?

I am screeeeching right now at β€œIt could be.” at the end of chapter 26. OMG!!!

We have another interlude, this time from Imani’s POV, which finally spills all the piping hot tea on her backstory with Montrell and Graves. We also learn she knows he has stolen the letters and vows to get revenge. I’ve got a bad feeling about this…

After being unconscious for over a day, Kierse finally awakens. Graves reveals that this was a test of her immunity to magic but admits he didn’t like seeing her hurt. Ooooh, I think someone is starting to care about our FMC!

Does anyone have any theories on The Holly King and The Oak King story? Could it bare some truth and link directly to Graves? And the Wren being an important representation to The Holly King? Interestingβ€¦πŸ€”

After training, Kierse heads out and is taken by Declan to meet Lorcan. He reveals that Amberdash provided her name and apologises for trying to kill her and her friends, claiming it was a mistake. Strangely, he wants to get to know her better. After their dinner, Kierse leaves, but what Lorcan doesn’t realise is that this encounter was part of her plan all along… Oh she’s a schemer!

Arriving back home, she then tells Graves all about her encounter with Lorcan. He tells her a little of his history with the druid: they were like brothers until a tragedy struck and Lorcan blamed Graves for it, making them enemies ever since. I wonder what the tragedy was and if it’s why Graves has now remained alone for so long…

So the leader of The Men of Valour is actually a vampire king named Louis, who was cast out after the Monster Treaty and is now the ruler of the monster underworld. Well, I’m certainly relieved that I’m not the one stealing from him!

We finally meet Graves’ mentor Kingston and what a character he is. I’d love to have a cuppa with him and find out all of Graves’ secrets…

Kingston asking her if she is a Wren has me thinking overtime. What does it mean?! And Graves always calling her Wren… there is definitely more to it than just a nickname, too many coincidences!

Well things certainly got spicy in chapter 33!

I am SO curious about Graves’ past. Kingston reveals that Graves first came to him with nothing but the clothes on his back and a knife wound. How did he end up in that state? I’m loving all the small glimpses into his backstory we’re getting!

Graves wrapping his coat around her shoulders because she’s cold?! Such a small detail and yet, he has achieved a special place in my heart because of it.
πŸ₯Ή
Oh, he is SO jealous about Lorcan giving her that babka. But it sparks an ideaβ€”he decides to use Lorcan’s interest in her to gather more information about what he knows regarding her mission and her friends.

Graves reveals that the spear Kierse will be stealing is one of the four treasures of Tuatha DΓ© Danann from the book she’s been reading. I’m starting to wonder if all the books he’s given her are his way of indirectly telling her something. If these stories are real, or at least based on truth, could he be related to them somehow? I have so many questions!

We find out that Kierse isn’t a Warlock and she isn’t immune to magic in the way they first thought. Her body actually absorbs magic and they have no clue what she actually is.

Kierse: “Does this mean I’m something new?”
Graves: “Or something very old”.

What do you think of Lorcan and his sudden change of heart in not killing Kierse?

Are you enjoying the romantic dynamic between our characters as much as I am? πŸ‘€

Do you have any new theories on what Kierse could be?

I’m excited to hear what you think, fairies!

Best,
Jodie

I think that Lorcan has figured something out about Kierse’s immunity to magic…. and possibly ties into his drama with Graves. It sounds a lot like these two are the Oak King and the Holly King and somehow Kierse is involved. At first, I thought that maybe Kierse is just an ancient being who’s memory was wiped and thats why she assumes her parents are both deceased…. We’ll see. I can’t wait for more romance between Graves and Kierse, but so far the amount has been perfect!

Forgot to mention that I’ve entered!

On today’s episode of I *did* see that coming. I knew it! Kierse had to be something else than a warlock and this just makes it more interesting. I’m really interested how all the fairytales and myths will play into this one, as these last chapters were quite heavy on that, especially for a urban fantasy book. I was kinda disappointed that they already f**ed, I kinda wanted more tension and more waiting, now I’m not really sure what I’m waiting for in their relationship. Lorcan also seemed too nice, but I kinda wish Kierse would choose him? and not Graves. There is way too much stuff that he isn’t telling her. /entered the giveaway @lyrasbookdiary

I entered @zandaandlexiread. Lorcan is obviously up to something, so I doubt he’s actually had a change of heart when it comes to Kierse. I’m sure he’ll do something to try and get her on her side, even if it’s by force. I’m not a huge fan of the romance between Graves and Kierse so far. I wish there was more of a buildup too it, everything seems to be happening so fast! I’m not sure what Kierse is. My knowledge on monsters is lacking, so everytime I try to think of something that absorbs magic my mind blanks. I hope we see more of Gen and Ethan soon, I miss them!

I feel like Lorcan and Graves are definitely the Oak King and the Holly King. There’s so much importance being placed on kernels of truth coming from the folklore and legends that Graves has been giving Kierse, that this would be a logical explanation to their rivalry. I think Lorcan is playing a game close to his sleeve, and finding ways to annoy Graves by making nice with Kierse is probably one of the things that brings him pleasure. I am definitely enjoying the romance between them, though! Both library scenes! πŸ₯΅

Also, I posted a picture up under @marimoosereads on IG!

I will be entering, my ig is the_bookwh0re, i absolutely love the readalongs. It has been one of my favorite thing about receiving the fairyloot subscription. (:

What do you think of Lorcan and his sudden change of heart in not killing Kierse?
He wants to toy with Graves, he must know that Graves has something of value to him, he wants to try to use her. Although he may still kill her in the end, I would not trust him.

Are you enjoying the romantic dynamic between our characters as much as I am? πŸ‘€
Yessss, tall dark and handsome is my favorite 😍. The tension πŸ€ŒπŸΌπŸ€ŒπŸΌπŸ’‹πŸ’‹

Do you have any new theories on what Kierse could be?
I think she is a Wren, though I am not quite sure what that is yet. Possibly some sort of old line of Magic/Monster hunter. Although Wrens are meant to bring spring and light, so that may play into it.

What do you think of Lorcan and his sudden change of heart in not killing Kierse?
I think he’s obviously still trying to sway her to his side but I’m happy he’s not trying to kill her anymore. I kind of find it fun that he’s flirting with her.

Are you enjoying the romantic dynamic between our characters as much as I am?
    Yes! I love these two.

Do you have any new theories on what Kierse could be?
She could be half human and half monster.

I posted my photo today on my Instagram @dnjreads

What do you think of Lorcan and his sudden change of heart in not killing Kierse?
He really weirded me out with his over the top interest in her.

Are you enjoying the romantic dynamic between our characters as much as I am? πŸ‘€
    …maybe πŸ‘€

Do you have any new theories on what Kierse could be?
I now have even less theories. Graves knows something though. He needs to share with the class.

I’ll be entering the giveaway as @sonata_ix!

    1. What do you think of Lorcan and his sudden change of heart in not killing Kierse?
Maybe he got information about her which made him change his mind. I also wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted to use her to get to Graves, and thus not killing her. After seeing the Wren necklac though, I think he wants more from her
    2. Are you enjoying the romantic dynamic between our characters as much as I am? πŸ‘€
I am very much! They have great chemistry, but I do hope they will get to know each other more.
    3. Do you have any new theories on what Kierse could be?
Nope, but I am hoping it is something old and not something new haha. I also kinda believe her species is already mentioned in the stories she has been reading.

    I have entered! @living.in.the.pages

I think Lorcan is totally suspicious. I feel like he still wants something from Kierse or is just trying to make Graves mad. I like the hot for eachother intensity between Kierse & Graves but dont want any insta love. No theories on what Kierse can be, maybe something extinct?

  • ASHLEY KALATUSHA

Sorry I’m so behind. I posted my photo yesterday and my username is @mangapenguin

Let me start by saying BUM BUM BUUUUUMMM…. That ending!

What do you think of Lorcan and his sudden change of heart in not killing Kierse?
I don’t think so. I feel like Lorcan is just a brute and isn’t one to change his mind even if it’s for the best.
Are you enjoying the romantic dynamic between our characters as much as I am? πŸ‘€
Omgggg the SPICEEEEE 🌢️πŸ”₯🌢️πŸ”₯🌢️πŸ”₯🌢️ but in all honesty they have great tension and chemistry.
Do you have any new theories on what Kierse could be?
I think she’s actually a wren. It’s a joke for Graves but I think it called her that as a joke or hope.
