Expect the Unexpected — Books That Master the Art of the Plot Twist

Jenni

Plot twists are carefully crafted by authors to catch a reader off-guard, turning a story on its head, shifting the trajectory, and taking it to a whole new level! They have the power to change everything; your thoughts about the world, your expectations for the ending, your opinions on the characters, and so much more.

We adore fantasy books that do this, because it’s like they capture the unpredictability of magic itself. Whether it’s hidden prophecies, secret identities, or unforgivable betrayals, unexpected revelations make the adventure feel even more immersive, adding a thrilling extra layer of wonder and danger to keep us utterly spellbound! 🪄

But the art of the plot twist lies in a reveal that not only feels shocking, but is also plausible. Once the reader has had a chance to process, they should be able to look back on the journey and in hindsight see the foreshadowing and misdirection that led up to the twist.

Good plot twists can be hard to come by, so keep reading to discover the fantasy stories that we think master them best! 💫
