Welcome back to day 4 of our readalong of A Curse of Blood and Wolves by Melissa McTernan! Let’s get comfy and get reading!
Ruby and Rafe are on the hunt to uncover what’s going on, let’s see if they manage it!
Today we’re reading from Chapter 29 to the end of Chapter 36.
Please be warned, the following section will include spoilers for A Curse of Blood and Wolves, from chapters 29 to 36. Please only read on if you’ve finished this section!

Rafe takes Ruby out for food, and the staff there know him. Gertie seems nice, has known him and the pack for a long time by the sounds of it!
Ruby’s loving getting all the anecdotes about pup Rafe! 😂 Gertie tells Rafe things with the pack have changed and tries urging him to let the past go. I’m not sure he will though… that’s a lot of trauma and he’s still holding onto a lot of it. Evidenced by how shocked he is that Ruby sees him as kind. He really thinks he’s this evil creature, doesn’t he? That makes me sad!
I gotta say though, I can’t see this “friend dynamic” they’ve promised lasting long… and it doesn’t!
They’re going to his old camp so Rafe can question the pack and its new Alpha, Rafe’s brother. Rafe is still holding onto this notion that he’s not good enough for Ruby but it works well, cause Ruby doesn’t want things that are good for her! Slightly toxic, but you do you, Red!
She’s FINALLY realised she loves him. About time! She asks if he misses Scarlett but he says a century is a long time and that he hardly knew her. Ruby’s quick to remind him he also barely knows her… but he says everything is different with her!
She knows!!! Or suspects anyway, she tries to approach the topic of mates but chickens out each time, especially when Rafe anticipates what she’s about to say and looks VERY alarmed! Maybe save that conversation for later then…
They reach the camp and the questions come pouring in. He reassures everyone he didn’t come to bring trouble and he’s not back for good. Ruby gets to see a snippet into his past life with this visit I suppose, she meets his Ma, who is more interested in knowing if they brought Theo. Knox finally shows up and… he’s not the best. He’s not going to help them by the sounds of things but he does tell Rafe they all did things they regret, which might mean Gert was right about him!
He does also mention a pack up north that have been running a bit awol, but he asks Rafe why they’d attack a human. He wants to know what’s so special about them. Probably the wrong thing to say Knox, this guy LOVES himself a human!
He tells Knox everything is special about them and sends Ruby away… he’s angry!
Well, what a waste of time that was. The visit seems to have made Rafe second guess himself yet again. Ruby tells him she thinks they’re mates and he tries to push her away and put her off once more. Rafe, just accept she loves you PLEASE because this is getting tiring!
He does admit it’s a possibility that Ruby could have magic in her blood too. Interestingggggg. What do we think she is? A witch? Another seer even?
When they return, they find out Theo thought the best way to prove things to Lena would be to shift in front of her. Smooth. She’s distressed, naturally, she didn’t quite have the same reaction as Ruby!
Ruby ends up getting herself in a pickle when she goes to find Lucifer, and instead encounters the attacking wolves AGAIN. I need to know why they’re doing this!!
Whilst she recovers, she admits to Lena she thinks she could be a seer, she thinks she might have known about her parents death before it happened but tried to convince herself otherwise at the time. Why isn’t she having more visions now though?
Rafe is getting on my last nerve right now. Make a decision and stick to it! Are you staying or going? Cause you can’t keep doing this to Ruby! It seems like he might be gone for good this time, Ruby’s convinced that maybe fate did make mistakes after all…
This is getting very interesting!

Do you think Rafe will be back? Of course he will, right?
He will definitely be back, he’s her mate he has to come back for her. I think he’s going to go searching for more answers in the meantime though and maybe have his brother come back to watch them while he’s gone.
What’re your thoughts on Ruby potentially being a seer too? Why do you think she’s not having visions and Lena is?
I think she is a seer also, it would make sense that it’s in the family. She might have been so scarred from seeing her parents die that maybe she has suppressed it this whole time. Maybe she will start seeing things now.
Any theories what’ll happen in the final section?
I think more wolves are going to come looking for her and Lena and they are going to get in a bind and Rafe will come and save them. Or maybe one of them will get taken and Rafe will still have to come and save them.
Rafe is driving me insane right now !! And where the heck is Lucy??

Duh he has to be, and I don’t think this is the last we will see of the other wolves.
What’re your thoughts on Ruby potentially being a seer too? Why do you think she’s not having visions and Lena is?
Yes I think she is and maybe she blocked them out after not being able to save her parents.
Any theories what’ll happen in the final section?
Honestly, I have no idea. Rafe will be back or Ruby will hunt him down. The wolves will come back for sure.

I think Ruby has to find him! Luckily, her boss and some of her regulars know him. And since he made tables for the bar and doesn’t have a car, they have to know where he lives right??? I think she needs to make the grand gesture to clear up this misunderstanding.
What’re your thoughts on Ruby potentially being a seer too? Why do you think she’s not having visions and Lena is?
Maybe she’s repressed somehow? Related to the accident? Or, Lena is older, so maybe it’s age related and it’s just a one off that she had that vision as a kid.
Any theories what’ll happen in the final section?
Ruby will find Rafe and they’ll solidify the bond and then maybe Lena will be someone’s mate? Maybe Knox? Knox redemption arc in a follow up book would be neat! I also have so many questions left and I can’t imagine it’s all resolved in the next section!!!
1) Dude has spent the whole book trying and failing to stay away. I don’t see why it would work this time.
2) I think yes! I think she suppressed it after being traumatized by her parents’ deaths.
3) I just hope we get some resolution. I’m enjoying this and I’d like to look forward to the next book knowing that the author can stick a landing.
Rafe will definitely come back, hopefully before one of Ruby or Lena get kidnapped by some other wolves. I cant wait to see how the story ends.
