Hello everyone!

Who is excited but nervous for today’s chapters? I feel like A LOT is going to happen in today’s reading!

Happy Friday and welcome to day 5 of our readalong of A Fragile Enchantment by Allison SaftI’m so excited to be reading this one with you, I hope you all love it!

Today we’re reading from chapter 25 to the end of the book. Let’s do this!

When you’ve finished today’s section, catch up with me in the comments down below so we can discuss the ending of the book. Happy reading!

Please be warned, the following section will include spoilers for A Fragile Enchantment by Allison Saft from Chapter 25 to the end of the book. Please only read on if you have finished this section!

Well, I feel terribly sorry for Niamh. Imagine having to work on the love of your life’s wedding cloak and he’s not even marrying you.

I feel like Sinclair is redeeming himself for me; calling on Niamh and helping her escape the palace since she is pretty much being treated like a prisoner.

I knew I was right to adore Sofia! She discovers Niamh in disguise sneaking out of the palace and tells her to go, she will make something up to the Prince Regent if her absence is discovered. She also tells her she has done nothing wrong and does not deserve to be treated this way. Yep, she is the best!

When she meets with Sinclair he apologises and explains the reasoning behind Lovelace and his actions – Niamh forgives him. In turn, she tells him what Jack has been hiding.

They both agree that if there is no wedding, Jack has no plan – they can help the Machlish people as well as prevent Rosa and Kit from entering a marriage of misery. They decide to try and get Kit to call it off. I don’t think he will at this point…

Okay, this quote?? “Love is what makes life worth living. Love is what makes us act when we need to.” I am just adoring the writing in this book!

Niamh and Sinclair set out to talk to Kit whilst he is on his stag night. Niamh manages to encounter him on a balcony and tells him there is another way to do the right thing without going through with the wedding. He refuses as he doesn’t want to let Jack take the fall for what his father did.

Suddenly they are kissing, rather passionately at that, until someone comes out onto the balcony. Jack.

Kit uses his magic to conceal Niamh amongst the plants growing and luckily Jack does not see her. Phew. My nerves are at an all-time high.

It’s the day of the wedding and I might have thought my nerves were at an all-time high before but they’ve now reached new levels. I have no idea what might happen next and that makes me both excited and scared. πŸ‘€

Niamh is helping Rosa get dressed for the wedding and begins to cry, or as Rosa likes to call it, “leaking”. I love how funny she is without even trying!

Rosa and Miriam are in love with each other without realising how one another truly feel?! OMG. How did I not see it sooner? Ahhh, I love them. I hope they come to realise their feelings.

Oooo things get more tense as Helen Carlile and the other protestors wait for the royal procession. Jack is forced to agree to meet with her by Kit. Finally!!!

Niamh manages to sneak into the wedding and watches the wedding proceed – this is so painful to read omg I want to cry.

She goes up to give Kit his cloak which she has enchanted with all her feelings. But as she is walking to the dais she falls and of course, Kit catches her. At least we are getting a little bit of swooning amongst all the pain. Right?…

Not King Felipe standing and saying he objects when the priest asks if anyone objects to the wedding?! Things are going to go very badly from here.

The king says he is appalled by the handling of everything and that they do not deserve his daughter. He challenges Kit to a duel. But not only that, a duel to the death. Did I just shout no out loud? Maybe…

Niamh tells Rosa everything and that she needs to stop her father. Miriam then joins the conversation and snaps at Rosa to not be a coward and stand up to her father.

Rosa then reveals her true feelings for Miriam and tells her she loves her! Wow, this book is giving me whiplash I’m now squealing in delight once more.

The three of them ride to the scene of the duel but as they arrive the king has already sent a bolt of lightning towards Kit and he crumples to the floor. Nooooooo!

By some miracle, it misses killing Kit and instead leaves him with a nasty scar on his arm. Rosa manages to talk down her father.

Not Kit talking about not being able to offer Niamh his coat. Even after coming so close to death, he is still such a gentleman!

“You’re like a flower… too delicate for this world”. Stop I’m crying.

Kit finally says I love you and asks her to marry him (again). Eeeeekkkkk!

Not them literally getting married an hour later. 🀭

The fact that Rosa and Miriam have remained in Sootham makes me SO happy. And Niamh opening her own little shop? My heart is content. I do love a good happily ever after!

Wow, what a whimsical, romantic and amazing story!

    1. What did you think of A Fragile Enchantment by Allison Saft?
I liked it, but wasn’t blown away by it. I found the overall story to be a tad bit to predictable to be really blown away by it, but the characters and their ARCs were amazing! They really stole the show!

This book was very sweet, I loved Kit and Niamh’s relationship and Kit is definitely swoonworthy. I just blatantly ignore the fact that he is like 18-19 and too young lol. I loved the magic world and the abilities, it was very cool.

Unfortunately there were major things that went unexplained in this book or weren’t solved at all so I was a bit disappointed about that, but the writing style was captivating and I would probably read more from this author in the future.

Oh my gosh, what a rollercoaster of an ending! I’m so happy it ended the way it did and the bonus content? πŸ‘€

I absolutely adored this book, it was pure escapism and the romance was syrupy sweet. BRB – off to buy Allison Saft’s entire back catalogue 😁

Very cute ending!!! It had a very fairy tale vibe to me!! The drama of the wedding and the duel was such a whirlwind and I was totally invested through the whole ending!

Everything about it made me smile so much!

I was so happy that Niamh and Kit ended up married! Adorable!

I LOVE IT!!!! I listened to the audiobook and it was so cute and everything I needed. I’m so glad everyone got a nice HEA.
The ending reminds me of Ella Enchanted but also the wedding scene in Briderton s2 between Edwina and Anthony. Maybe that’s a stretch but it does! Love it!

I really enjoyed this readalong. I definitely feel that I get more enjoyment out of books when there’s a readalong. I really enjoyed the regency, romance, and magic vibes of this one.

  • ladymeg

Holy cow. Yesterday I was enjoying this book but also kinda meh about it. Just a typical regency-style romance with some magic thrown in. OR SO I THOUGHT. The wild plot twists today really escalated the story for me. I typically don’t like too much politics in my romance or fantasy but it really worked to add depth in this case. I also would absolutely read a book about Jack/Sofia…or Sinclair/maybe Lord Fox?

I loved this book so muchπŸ₯° It was so cute, I’m so sad it’s over.
Went out and bought her other book β€˜A Far Wilder Magic’ yesterday.

Honestly, Niamh working on Kit’s wedding cloak nearly killed me; all those emotions she was pouring into her sewing, I was nearly bawling.
I loved the ending so much.

Overall, the book just gave me warm spring-time vibes and it was a lovely read at this time of year and looking forward to upcoming warmer weather. The book was just so sweet and cute, and the characters so lovable.

    • Jodie

So happy to hear you enjoyed it too! Definitely agree with the warm spring-time vibes! πŸ₯°

I really enjoyed this book! I, like you, adored the writing style!! I loooveee Sofia she is a REAL ONE! I also loved how Rosa and Miriam FINALLLLYYYY admitted their feelings for one another! I was kind of hoping we’d see their wedding too lol but I know it wasn’t about them! This book gave off such a fairytale vibe! It was lighthearted and so cute and charming! I was feeling like I was on a roller coaster these last few chapters, and I just couldn’t stop reading! I loved the ending, I love how Niamh got her man’s and her shop! Love a thriving dutchess. I was disappointed that we didn’t get to be reintroduced to her Gram and her Ma, considering she did this for them, I would’ve loved a full circle moment where they were all together and Gram and Ma were with Niamh at the end. Other than that, I am happy with the predictable ending – Niamh and Kit finally married and together! While it was predictable it was very cute! I will read more from this author! Loved the read along and the discussions!!!

This was a very sweet read, and I’m sure I’ll return to it when I’m in that particular mood. Sadly, I think it left too many things in the air, such as the conflict between the Machlish and the people of Avaland (Avlish?), and the problem with the money. The wedding was also rushed. I would personally love a sequel that addresses all of this. I loved the world, so I’d be happy to return. For now, though, 3.5 stars from me.

What did you think of A Fragile Enchantment by Allison Saft?

I love the regency era in YA as it’s so romantic and dreamy. I thought the magic was very unique but slightly lacking overall. The ending felt a bit rushed but I did like the way things panned out with Kit and Niamh wedding and the shop opening.

I think a few things could have been expanded upon (Rosa and Miriam for example) but ultimately I really enjoyed it and will be rating it 4 stars.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book! It was an easy read and I loved the the magic system within in combined with the Bridgerton romance vibes. I did really like there were a few things that were brought up through out the book that I wish had been better explained regarding Kit’s parents, why he was sent away, and more about the political turmoil.

A lot of close calls, but I’m happy Sinclair is loveable again, Sophia is cleared, & Rosa & Miriam remain close friends. I’m less thrilled with Jack, but I guess it would be too much to ask for his character to grow much given the time frame of things. At least he made a few step in the right direction by the end.
    Daily Q&A:
    Q:
1.) What did you think of A Fragile Enchantment by Allison Saft?
    A:
1.) I very much enjoyed this book. The writing was picturesque & whimsical (I’ve noted a few new favorite quotes, too), most* of the characters were easy to love, the magic system was interesting (Niamh’s, at least, being entirely new for me, but I found the twist on elemental magic fun as well), & of course, the FairyLoot Exclusive Edition was so pretty on top of the story itself. 4.5 stars

This was a cute story. I can see people’s complaints about fuzzy worldbuilding etc but I just found it had good cosy vibes.

Maybe not a favourite, but a sweet enough way to spend a few hours.

  • Niekartistiek

Didn’t love the book as much as I’d hoped. I liked the magic system and the diversity in characters. I wasn’t a big fan of Niamh staying consistently weak throughout the book or the way Kit treats her. I do get it is supposed to be grumpy vs sunshine, but it took a bit too long for him to treat her with respect.

The writing of the surroundings was captivating, but the writing in dialoge got me cringing a couple of times (sorry!). Also left with some questions, so overall it felt a bit lacking and I just hoped for more.

The ending was quite cute. I do like that they ended up together and that she was able to open her shop in the end.

    With love,

What did you think of A Fragile Enchantment by Allison Saft?
I gave this four stars. I’m not usually a fan of regency romance but the dress making had me intrigued. That was one part of spin the dawn that I loved so I figured I would atleast enjoy that aspect. However, the gossip girl twist of Lovelace had me HOOKED! I loved it so much. I also liked that we could feel the romance kind of like an Austin novel where others is regency’s I don’t feel it.

  • kaythesuperstar

Oh my gosh I loved it! I haven’t read a book this fast in a long time but I read this in like two days πŸ˜‚ I am obsessed with the magic system and her literally weaving emotions into her projects. The banter was so good. I love that everyone was queer. Literally every time they revealed it I was like eeeeee another one! Haha. I loved how her illness was represented but not β€œinfansized” like she was a weakling. She just had weak moments πŸ˜‚ I could not get enough of the descriptions of Kit and his EYES. I could read a short story collection of this group of friends and never get enough. Thank you Fairyloot for blessing me with this book pick πŸ’œ (and the first time I actually was able to participate fully with a realalong πŸ˜‚)

I completely forgot to respond to day 5!

I did feel like it was predictable towards the end, however I did enjoy the story and the chemistry between Kit and Niamh. I would have loved to see more world building in the book as I feel like it had more potential to be a 5 star. I would rate the book 3.5 stars
