Today we’ll be reading from chapter 18 to the end of chapter 24, let’s go!
Please be warned, the following section will include spoilers for Faebound by Saara El-Arifi from Chapter 18 to the end of Chapter 24. Please only read on if you have finished this section!

I can’t believe it took 6 hours for them to get ready!!!
Learning about the fae is so interesting as the queens are basically linked to the land. Does that mean if they die then the land will?
Golan is truly saving the elves maybe he feels a kinship with them.
Lettle is going to try to fight the prophecy but it won’t work like she will fall for Rayan and he might die.
I am so sad for Lettle but at least a Seer is trying to befriend her.
Yeeran is one of the Faebound but I am surprised no one tried to hurt her.
I giggled at Yeeran thinking that the shrieks were attacks but alas more of a pleasurable shriek.
Even the Prince thinks he is in a cage that is interesting.
Silly Yeeran thinking she is only annoyed at Furi for finding a lover, but not because she is attracted to her.
Iconic that Furi just appears naked to train or doesn’t notice she is naked!
Furi’s training technique is questionable but she not just hurting Yeeran.
I don’t know if they will ever get over you killed my brother issue.
Nerad is so different to Furi and the fae share food etc equally? There are so many differences between the fae and the elves.
Finding out more about the fae is very interesting, the tree is connected to the rulers but also the land. It would be very easy to get rid of the fae if someone just killed the rulers.
I wonder if Nerad wanted his cousin dead as they seemed to be in disagreement in the end.
I think the Prince was planning on dying as his obeah allowed his death to happen.
My heart breaks for Yeeran it is not her fault for not knowing.
I know Lettle is trying to protect Rayan but why is she so upset about it all.
She can see the magic of the fae that is very cool and I feel like she will be able to find a way out or break the fae magic.
I wonder whose obeah protected her? As could that be a new ally? Hosta is the worst truly.
The books will have so much knowledge in them, I hope Lettle can learn to read fae.
I feel bad for the Lightless knowing that your obeah more likely has been killed.
Komi is definitely not trustworthy and I wonder why the Seer was banned what did he predict to the Queens.
At least Lettle is going to have something to do by being an apprentice to Golan.
The sisters are so protective of each other I love it.
Yeeran is so determined to be good at things I believe she would stay up all night trying to see the magic.
Rayan is making it so hard for Lettle to not like him.
Nerad is so understanding and good I feel like they would be a great ruler along with the things he says about Furi.
I think Yeeran being connected to an obeah has allowed the plants to grow in the blight!
Why is Furi being so frustrating like please just train Yeeran.
Not Pila questioning Yeeran about Salawa, but I think she is correct.
Yeeran helping out with the mangoes is nice of her but great that it annoys Furi aswell. I was giggling imaging Furi just angrily staring at her.
They have reached an agreement in training but why can’t Yeeran do magic?
Not Yeeran teaching Furi how to pickpocket and her thinking it is a game. The fae don’t really know anything about the elves.
Furi is becoming nicer and I love it! Just kiss already they both are attracted to each other.
Why is Nerad not that happy that the blight is over, I feel like finding a way out of the cavern caused it and bring in an elf helped the curse?
Pila does not like Komi and I think I know why. But even he mentions about how the war is about power and greed, nothing else.
I hope Yeeran stops putting Salawa on a pedastal. I don’t like her really as only Yeeran seems to think she is good.
Where is Lettle running to?
We are being given so much tension from Yeeran and Furi but also heartbreak with Lettle and Rayan I just don’t know how to feel.

Ugh I don’t trust Salawa. I think Yeeran has a very different view of her than reality. I don’t want her to get out and tell Salawa about the fraedia because… There’s going to be a new war then. Like come on! 😅

Salawa has felt a little suspicious to me from the start. Or I guess from the moment we learned that the child soldiers were her idea.
I don’t think Lettle trying to push Rayan away is going to last very long. I have a feeling she might cave.
As for Yeeran’s magic, I think its going to be one of those situations where she can’t figure it out until some life or death situation.
I’m ready for some action!!

I think Yeeran’s magic is tied to her soul and she’s started questioning things about the War. So I wonder if her magic needs her to be at peace and it can sense that she is divided.
Honestly I wish she would just tell him about the prophecy, I think that would make sense and then at least there be less misunderstanding between the two.
Yeeran clearly has her up on a pedestal that needs to come crumbling down. I think Salawa is more power hungry than Yeeran thinks and that’s why she exiled her.
Does anyone else suspect that Rayan is Fae? I wonder if his father was the Prince and he left on a trip and met Rayan’s mother. His mother refused to tell him who his father was. Maybe that would explain the blight, a Fae being born from the royal line and living outside of Mosima. If the royals are connected to the land and he was kept away from Mosima then maybe that’s why the blight happened 30 years ago.

Oh my goodness, I was devastated, and I’m furious that Rayan pursued Berro! Please tell him already! Grrrr!
How do you feel about Salawa?
Salawa is most likely not who Yeeran believes her to be. Children in her army don’t matter to her. I have disliked her from the start and continue to do so.
Can we discuss about Komiki appearing to be “drunk” and looking around as if he was still gathering information? I still feel negatively about him.

I knew I was onto something regarding my thoughts and feelings about Salawa! I have a really bad feeling about her, honestly, and I have from the very start.
Lettle might be overreacting just a little bit about the prophecy, as she isn’t even 100% sure it means what she thinks it does.
Yeeran is starting to finally grow on me and I am looking forward to seeing her progress with harnessing magic.
I don’t trust Salawa at all. I think if Yeeran were to show up with Pila, Salawa wouldn’t hesitate to kill both her & Pila.

Rip. Not the queens finding a way to kill Yeeran even though she’s bound to Pila. Hopefully they can escape. I love that Pila is helping them even though she’s technically fae.

I did not trust Salawa since she sent Yeeran into exile. Yeeran is quite possibly blinded by her love for her and their past together, but Salawa seems like she knows more than she lets on.
Lettle pushing Rayan makes me so sad. I ship them so much.

There are so many characters that I don’t trust, from Salawa to Komi!
I think Yeeran is blinded by her love for Salawa, so it’s going to be interesting when Yeeran learns the “truth” about her.
I also love the tension between Furi and Yeeran – can’t wait for more there 😉
Am I the only one who finds Komi a bit suspect? He shared more knowledge than previously mentioned, so I think his aloofness is a front 🤔
Yup. Haven’t trusted Komi since the moment he mentioned he has been there for 10 years. Also he says some really questionable stuff. Yeeran is so trusting just because he is an elf but she doesn’t even know him. So no, I don’t trust him at all🙈

I feel like she HAS to, but maybe it comes with the realization that it isn’t the key to their escape? But either way, I do think she’ll be able to DO it, but I don’t think she’ll master it. At least, not quickly.
I think it’s a terrible idea because I think she’s misinterpreting the prophecy. GRANTING someone their death may actually be an act of mercy [like ending the suffering of, say, a terminal cancer patient in pain, etc.] rather than MURDER or MANSLAUGHTER or something like she thinks it is. Or maybe her pushing him away is what causes it.
I don’t want to see Salawa again, but I’m sure we must. I didn’t really like her in the beginning [though I didn’t hate her, I just don’t really see the appeal of a partner that seems to keep their distance], and I’m only disliking her more as time goes on.
Yes. I thought so as well. I mean Lettle probably misunderstands the prophecy. I get that she is scared but the prophecy can relate to several people at this point. And Imna (was that the old diviner) said that you cannot alter the future but will only provoke it when trying to influence it.

I think so! She will probably do more when she’s emotional before she truly understands how to utilize it. They make magic seem to be something that requires patience and open-mindedness, which Yeeran isn’t the most patient person. But she’s becoming more open to things.
How do we feel about Lettle pushing Rayan?
I wish she would just tell Rayan what’s going on. But Lettle needs to learn more about prophecies and her skill with them.
What do you think of Salawa?
I’m not a fan. Maybe both her and Komi from the crescent clan will “team up” and destroy everything in this fae place. Something doesn’t sit right with me about Komi. The scene with him stepping on Pila’s stay was weird.

I agree. Yeeran has already used magic unwillingly, so why should she not be able to train her magic. I also think she is just not mentally ready yet, as she also struggled long with the sight🤔☺️
Finally caught up and really love the book so far. 🙂
I still do not feel good about Komi since he often proves that he still has the same world view as before. For example with his side comments and his reaction to certain Information or the divination topic. I do not get how Yeeran can be so mistrusting but doesn’t question the guy she only just met.
I love how Furis character gets introduced more and more. It’s the perfect example that prejudice can cloud your judgement. I mean Yeeran killed her brother. What does she expect, especially when she has so little respect for the other side as well.
I think Yeeran talking to Komi is important to better understand the war and what she has been fighting for. She tends to idealize a lot and that way she gets confronted with reality. I question Salawa as well. The more information we get, the more I think … . I mean she buys children for little money for the war.🤷🏽♀️
I think Yeeran has a lot of potential for character development due to her questioning her world view and what her values are.🤗

Yes, i think so but maybe in a life or death situation.

I think it’s inevitable that she’ll come to love him if she doesn’t already so pushing him away will only hurt her. I think she’ll cave in in the end
3. What do you think of Salawa?
The more I read about her the more I don’t like her to be honest. She seems like a tyrant who will do anything to keep her seat of power. I also think Yeeran is very blind to this because of her love for Salawa, which she only exploited. Maybe she even used Yeeran to keep her in check? That wouldn’t surprise me

My heart breaks for Lettle and Rayan, I want them to sort things out, it’s to painful to watch. I want them to brave the prophecy together.
Yeeran and Furi will get closer and closer I think, but Yeeran needs to stop putting Salawa on such high regards. I don’t trust Komi still.
Yeeran might be able to use magic but I think with will be at a critical time, maybe the initiation?

I believe she will find some way to channel her magic again. Will she get her drum as a focus for helping her practice O.O we have not seen drumfire lately and would be nice to see it return.
How do we feel about Lettle pushing Rayan?
Lettle is doing what she feels is right, but it is a bit of a heavy situation. Love the one you want but risk being their downfall? That’s a tough battle to fight and I cannot blame Lettle for her choices out of sparing Rayan.
What do you think of Salawa?
Salawa is definitely manipulating Yeeran and is not who she says she is. There is a reason for her continuing the war and including younger people as soldiers. War and Power are two things that go hand-in-hand and I could see Salawa being someone who wants to win and achieve power under the guise of it being altruism to the elves.

I think that the book will end with Yeeran finally gaining the ability to use magic. I also think it will be to Lettle being in danger.

I think Salawa is a trader. I can’t imagine throwing someone you care about out into the wilderness but then crying about it. I don’t trust her and I think she’s a snake.

Since it has been mentioned that Yeeran doesn’t want to fail at anything she’ll probably practice a lot and will be able to do magic by the time Furi is back. She was able to see the magic quite fast as well.
I don’t really like that Lettle was pushing Rayan away, she should’ve just been honest with him about the prophecy.
The more we learn about Salawa the more I dislike her. I didn’t like her in the beginning either but now she seems even worse.

I think that she should just talk to Rayan. Keeping secrets never helps anyone.
I liked Salawa at the beginning but now I’m not sure. The more we learn about her, the less I trust her. I think Yeeran will have to be really careful there.
