Let’s talk: Young Adult, Adult and Romantasy!

With the upcoming launch of our new Romantasy subscription in April 2024, we thought it might be helpful to share a little bit of information on the differences between our Young Adult, Adult and Romantasy subscriptions.

Whilst all of the books in each subscription will have the beautiful special finishes that you have come to know and love from FairyLoot, the content in the books can be quite different. How do you know which subscription is best for you? We’re here to help!

What is the difference between Young Adult, Adult and Romantasy?

Young Adult:

  • Suitable for readers aged 14 and up

Adult:

  • Suitable for readers aged 18 and up
  • Romance is not always a key focus in the plot
  • Some explicit content

Romantasy:

  • Suitable for readers aged 18 and up
  • “Spicy” books with explicit on-page sexual content
  • Romance is a key focus in the plot
  • May contain dark romances

You can expect some form of romance in all three of FairyLoot’s subscription plans as we love romance in general, but the amount of romance, explicit content and how prevalent it is to the plot it is will vary depending on the subscription type.

We have found that many of our readers enjoy all three, but to get a better idea of which one you might enjoy we have provided some examples of the types of books you might find in each of these subscriptions.

  • Young Adult: The Cruel Prince by Holly Black, Once Upon A Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber, Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross, Legendborn by Tracy Deonn, Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim, The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater, What The River Knows by Isabel Ibañez, These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong.
  • Adult: The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart, The City of Brass by Shannon Chakraborty, Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare, The Final Strife by Saara El-Arifi, The Foxglove King by Hannah Whitten, Babel by R. F. Kuang, Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett.
  • Romantasy: The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent, Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros, From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout, A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair, Broken Bonds by J. Bree, Gild by Raven Kennedy, The Book of Azrael by Amber V. Nicole.

  1. Is there a plan for a subscription combo? That we do not have to pay shipping for 3 different subscriptions

  2. Question, will Romantasy have a 6month or 12month payment option? I don’t like to pay each month incase something unexpected comes up and disrupts my book subscription.

    1. We will have more information on the Romantasy subscription coming soon! 💜

  3. Will you be doing an adult/romantasy combo?

  4. if I already signed up when the original email went out with the link, do I need to again or am I already in line?

    1. If you have already signed up to the waitlist, you do not need to sign up again! If you try to join the waitlist a second time you should receive a notice saying your email is already listed and attempting to join again won’t automatically change your sign up date!💜
