–!SPOILERS!–

Well after the excitement of yesterday’s chapters I cannot wait to see what happens next!

Graves shows Kierse to her room and tells her to rest rather than jumping straight into training as she will be in shock given what she’s been through in the last 24 hours. Considering this guy is a monster he’s kind of…nice?

“I’m not a delicate flower that you should fear crushing in your palm.”
“No, you’re delicate like a bomb.”Β
The CACKLE I just let out.
Graves tells her he has his suspicons about what she might be and reveals that she is able to nullify magic, including his own. As far as he’s aware she seems to be the only one with this ability.

Anyone else immediately adore Isolde? I just want to have a cup of tea and a scone with her! πŸ₯Ί

The next morning Graves returns and tells her she will be practing her spear skills with Edgar – turns out she is not good at using a spear. They also have plans to have dinner together that evening.

FINALLY. The moment I’ve been anticipating since I started reading… THE CAT! Her name is Anne and I’m already obsessed with her. Is it too soon to start a fan club? Asking for a friend…

At dinner Graves asks to see her Wren necklace, checking to see if that could have been what is nullifying magic. It turns out it is literally just a necklace but in the process Kierse learns that Graves magic seems to be related to touch.

Graves is a Warlock – they are rare and territorial, choosing not to come into the light like other monsters have. Do we haveΒ plot twist of sorts? He suspects Kierse might also be a Warlock. I did not see that coming. I am SO intrigued!
Him offering her his desert? I’d take that as a sign of love personally, although maybe i am just a bit delulu.

I KNEW IT. The ‘Men of Valor’ will indeed play a role in this story. The spear she must steal is located on the third floor of their residence. It also just so happens to be the same place her ex-girlfriend, Torra, disappeared…

They plan to use the winter solstice party hosted by the ‘Men of Valor’ as their chance to get inside and steal the spear. With the event just weeks away, time is of the essence and I’m nervous.

After dinner, Kierse sneaks into Colette’s to drop off a stack of cash for emergencies. She then meets Nate and gives him money for Gen and Ethan. She tells him about the winter solstice plan, but he reveals it’s a full moon, meaning he and the entire pack won’t be able to help. Why do I have a bad feeling about this? The next morning Graves takes her to a hospital to be tested for the Warlock gene which they’ll get the results back for a in couple of weeks.

Graves takes over her training, which quickly becomes intense. He also informs her that they’ll be attending a Warlock couples party the next day to steal from them and test her abilities. Yikes.

I knew something was off about Dr. Mafi, and the interlude proved it! But what kind of β€˜match’ are they looking for? I’m worried for Kierse now if Louis will be targeting her…

We enter part two of the book, and tell me why I’m giggling and kicking my feet because he called her Wren. I love nicknames, and I have a feeling there’s a lot more to this one than meets the eye…

Graves’ reaction to her outfit at the party?! I’m blushing…

Anyone else hoping someone spills the tea at this party about what exactly happened between Graves, Imani, and Montrell? I just know it’s piping hot! πŸ‘€

To avoid being caught by the approaching Imani, Graves kisses her. I don’t know about Kierse, but I certainly swooned. After being forced out of the study by Imani, Kierse later slips away from the party and returns there to the bookshelf. There, she discovers it has a hidden door and makes her way down.

Eventually, she locates the vault and, being the crafty thief she is (combined with her ward-breaking ability), she manages to break in and steal the envelopes. However, while breaking into the vault, she inhales a cloud of white smoke… could this be Imani’s magic?

Stumbling toward the exit, Kierse realises something isn’t right.

We end today’s chapters on a dark noteβ€”literally. After emerging from the vault and returning upstairs, she collapses into Graves’ arms.

Do you think it’s a coincidence that the Men of Valour have the spear and were also responsible for kidnapping Torra?

Do you think Wren is a Warlock?

Do you think Graves might be developing romantic feelings for Kierse yet?

I can’t wait to hear all your thoughts and theories! I hope you’re loving this as much as I am. πŸ‘€

Love,
Jodie

I totally did not see Graves being Warlock coming. Someone in the first part’s comments said he could be a dragon, and i kind of was feeling the same way when starting these chapters so the revelation that he is a warlock came as a huge surprise. However, i find it hard to believe that Wren/Kierse would also be a warlock. I just think she is something more special, and something different. I think Graves is a lost cause when it comes to whether he has romantic feelings towards Wren/Kierse, especially after he saw her in that dress. And when she collapsed onto his arms. How could he not have feelings after that? Can’t wait for tomorrow!

Hi, love FL edition thx for showcasing the cat (AB demands a fan club)! It’s a fast read so I’ve read ahead. A to Q: No coincidence; Not that but def special; Indeedily! Love Kiersten’s found family

I totally agree, Kierse isn’t just a warlock, she is something more powerful.
I’m shocked by a warlock too, I was expecting something more dramatic.
I love the nickname Wren and Graves is mad crushing on her deep down. Maybe like a brooding crush?
I’m going to keep reading, I actually don’t want to put this book down.

He’s a warlock??? I was so sure he was a dragon, and now I’m a little disappointed. I don’t think Wren is a warlock though, at least I’m hoping she’s something different. I don’t even really think that she would be a witch anymore. Graves keeps talking about her magic, but does she actually have any? So far all she’s been able to do is nullify magic, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she has any of her own.

I’m sure Graves is developing feelings for Kierse already, but I wish it was later on in the book. They’ve barely interacted at this point, so I’m not a huge fan of them falling in love already. But that’s probably a me thing since I’m a huge fan of slow burn romances.

Definitely not a coincidence that the Men of Valour took Torra and that they have a spear. Is it crazy to think Torra is still alive? Cause that’s the vibe I’m getting right now. Maybe they turned her into a vampire, like how Nate got turned into a werewolf. With how much pain Kierse has over Torra, I think it would be a missed opportunity to not have her show up alive! It could add some fun drama since Kierse has feelings for Graves now.

I don’t know if there’s a connection between he Men of Valor and Torra. Maybe she just got involved with the wrong people.

Not sure that Kierse will be a warlock. Maybe she’ll be something completely different. She does seem to have superhuman reflexes..

I’m sure Graves realizes how hot Kierse is. You can’t fake physical attraction and it seems like they have a lot of chemistry.

I thought this book was a little slower to start, but things did pick up now that there’s a heist on the planning stages! I love me some heists. I figured the Men of Valour would play some sort of role, because clearly they’re a formidable group, though I wonder just how intensely dangerous this group is when even Graves can’t get through their territory. I’m a bit surprised about Graves being a warlock, though I hope we’ll eventually see his powers in display, even if it’s to smite those touching his Wren (*giggle*). Don’t think Kierse is a warlock, though, and at first I had thought she’d be a witch, but immunity seems to be a singular kind of skill, and not witch-related either. These last chapters were intense! Graves is definitely feeling some typa way with Kierse, but love? Not just yet.

Do you think it’s a coincidence that the Men of Valour have the spear and were also responsible for kidnapping Torra?
It can’t be, I mean it is possible, but I doubt it, they are also searching for something and Kierce might be it.

Do you think Wren is a Warlock?
No, I think she is something else, something more unique/special. Different from anything else, possibly some sort of monster hunter maybe?

Do you think Graves might be developing romantic feelings for Kierse yet?
Yess, I think they both might be starting to develop feelings for each other, definitely lust.

I loved this section, so far the book has not been disappointing at all, very easy to read and get lost in. Great pick!

Do you think it’s a coincidence that the Men of Valour have the spear and were also responsible for kidnapping Torra?

No I don’t think it’s a coincidence, I hope she ends up being able to find Torra. I know it was weighing on her conscience.

Do you think Wren is a Warlock?

I do think she might be some sort of warlock.

Do you think Graves might be developing romantic feelings for Kierse yet?

I definitely think he has romantic feelings for her right now. I think he’s head over heels and I’m so excited to see more.

Finally occurred to me I can type my replies in the notes app and just paste in here bahaha. (I will email support too, thanks!)

Do you think it’s a coincidence that the Men of Valour have the spear and were also responsible for kidnapping Torra?
Maybe? I don’t see how Torra is related to anything with Graves, but it’s a fun way to tie Wren in even deeper.

Do you think Wren is a Warlock?
Seems likely! A special kind of warlock maybe?

Do you think Graves might be developing romantic feelings for Kierse yet?
“Feelings” might be too deep at this point LOL.

  • Erica @living.in.the.pages

I think it’s probably coincidental that the men of valour kidnapped Torra and have the spear but not coincidental that they have the spear and are looking for a powerful person that is probably Wren.
I definitely think Wren has to be something more than a warlock.
The chemistry is definitely there between Wren and Graves and I think they are both going to catch feelings pretty quickly if they aren’t already. I am so hear for it!

    1. Do you think it’s a coincidence that the Men of Valour have the spear and were also responsible for kidnapping Torra?
Not at all! I also think Torra will play a role during the heist later on in the book.
    2. Do you think Wren is a Warlock?
It seems a bit to convenient for her to also be a Warlock? I’m not convinced she is one just yet.
    3. Do you think Graves might be developing romantic feelings for Kierse yet?
I think he is intrigued by her and definetely attracted to her at the moment, which are a base to start developing feelings. The sexual tension between the two is palpable haha. I also think they need to spend more time together and get to know the other more/better to truly develop romantic feelings

Do you think it’s a coincidence that the Men of Valour have the spear and were also responsible for kidnapping Torra?
I am noticing that nothing with this book is a coincidence.

Do you think Wren is a Warlock?
Maybe? I wonder if she was and if Graves loved her long ago but for some reason her memory was wiped. This would explain the β€œblood match”.

Do you think Graves might be developing romantic feelings for Kierse yet?
YESSS! The dance said it all. Haha
