-!SPOILERS!-

Slowly, through Azure’s chapters, we see Indigo becoming more cruel.

With the Bridegroom, Indigo continues her small tortures and punishments. She left him at the house since he went to see Tati without her. It’s only when he bares his throat for her, so that she can shave him with a blade, that she seems satisfied and happy again.

At sixteen, Indigo and Azure are going on a trip. It was Tati and Azure’s idea, Indigo seems dead against it, but plays along. Until they’re ready to go and suddenly, Azure’s passport is nowhere to be found. When they get home, Indigo has prepared a Parisian feast in the Room of Secrets… almost as if she planned the whole thing.

Indigo becomes more coercive as she and Azure grow up. She dictates when it’s time for their first kisses, where they’ll go, what they’ll wear. Azure goes along with it.

The Bridegroom is in Indigo’s childhood room, hiding. If she catches him snooping she won’t be happy. She’s speaking to Catskins, a nickname she had for Azure. She says it makes no sense that she sees her, because she’s dead and Indigo killed her. She asks why she isn’t dead yet…

Do you think Azure is dead?
What vibes are you getting from the Bridegroom and Indigo?
On a scale of 1-10, how eerie are you finding this book so far?

So. Much. Mystery!

Catch you tomorrow for more reading, and probably more mystery too!

Love,
Shannon

I’m suspicious that Indigo saying she murdered Azure is just a metaphor for her killing the memory of her. I keep getting little hints that Azure isn’t real, but then why do people outside know her and remember her if she isn’t? Most intriguing…
I’m definitely getting manipulative vibes from Indigo, but I’m also starting to feel that both Azure and the Bridegroom are beginning to unravel their love for Indigo, and it’s a nice juxtaposition to have.
I can’t say I’m really finding the book *eerie*, so that would be a 1-2. But I am getting unreliable narrator and psychological manipulation vibes from the book.

Yes, I’m also getting manipulation vibes from Indigo. She makes me a bit uncomfortable

    1. It seems like it, especially after what Indigo said, but I lean more towards “no”. I believe Indigo thinks she killed Azure, but Azure simply went to the Otherworld and didn’t return.
    2. The further along we go, the more the Bridegroom seems like a prey being hunted. Like a mouse and cat or sheep and wolf.
    3. It is eerie, but I find the book to be more intriguing than eerie at this point, so I’ll say a 4 or 5 on a scale to 10. Overall, I’m also just confused and what to find out what really happened and what is and isn’t real.

I don’t think Azure is dead, or she might be, but I still feel like it’s something more. That she’s stuck somewhere. The bridegroom and Indigos relationship is a bit weird, and Indigo is very controlling. I do think it’s pretty interesting that we don’t have her perspective, so we don’t know anything about her thoughts.

I am LOVING this book!! I think Azure will eventually realize how manipulative Indigo is, leave, and make Indigo declare her dead – hence the ‘I killed you’ (in my memory, maybe?).
The husband appears to be mentally ill, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Indigo has something to do with that either.

I don’t think Azure is dead but that she’s trapped somewhere.

I dislike Indigo but feel bad that I do because she doesn’t really get a say in the story so far, but the Bridegroom also kind of annoys me. Azure is the character I’m most drawn to. I feel like the Bridegroom should know much better than he does – he should’ve known that he couldn’t keep his word. He’s literally an expert in myth and fairytales?

I am not sure whether the magic is real or not or whether it is because the characters believe but isn’t in any tangible way?

The ending we’re left with has me thinking that The Bridegroom is Azure. That this body is how she someway made her way back into the mortal realm and Indigo recognized her soul at the hotel back at the beginning.

This is, of course, just a crazy guess! I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the book and I would rate the eerieness at a 3-4 but I’m thinking it’s going to get ramped up in the remaining chapters!

Do you think Azure is dead?
No, I think Azure is trapped in the Otherworld as far as Indigo knows. If she died there then Indigo doesn’t know.

What vibes are you getting from the Bridegroom and Indigo?
It feels weird. It doesn’t feel like love or a real marriage. More like they had lust and he is willing to be nieve.

On a scale of 1-10, how eerie are you finding this book so far?
I would say for eerie it’s a 7 but it’s confusing. Not like I’m lost but I’m missing some big puzzle pieces to this story we will probably get later.

I’m still not sure what I make of anything besides a dislike for Indigo.
    Daily Q&A:
    Q:
1.) Do you think Azure is dead?
2.) What vibes are you getting from the Bridegroom and Indigo?
3.) On a scale of 1-10, how eerie are you finding this book so far?
    A:
1.) Indigo says she killed her, but Indigo also says a lot of things. Maybe dead to her or maybe she really did make to kill Azure, if that conversation on the turret roof is any indication
2.) Well, the bloodied kiss is reminiscent of her 1st kiss with Azure & Azure & the Bridegroom have many similarities, so maybe she’s trying to fill the void left behind by her.
3.) Mildly eerie with the elusive nature of the magic, the manipulation, the mention of Indigo killing Azure, the “bad omens” from the dying/dead starlings, the allusion to mental instability in more than 1 character, etc.

I’m starting to think the magic and Otherworld isn’t real and it’s all in Indigo’s head. Maybe Azure and Indigo are the same person and she killed Azure as in she killed her other persona? I’m curious to find out what’s going on. Also, Jupiter gives me the creeps!

I am not sure if Azure is dead or not. Some things are just not adding up when it comes to Indigo and when we get flashbacks in Azure’s point of view. Like it seems like the descriptions of Azure is more like present Indigo. So Maybe they have traded places or maybe they look so much alike that they both live as Indigo now. It almost seems like the Bridegroom is Indigo’s property and not husband. I love this book so far. I give it an 8 right now. ?

Okay, I entered the giveaway with my IG @READERSLEAFCO

I don’t think Azure is dead because she’s interconnected with Indigo, at least, I think her soul is still there. Her body might be dead though. I think Indigo killed her body because I’m guessing Azure falls in love with someone. Indigo is super controlling so I could see her getting jealous of anyone else having Azure.

I’m also going to throw out there that I 100% hate Jupiter and think he’s disgusting. I get so grossed out every time he’s mentioned. Completely understand why Azure dissociates from her family and is attracted to the secret and alternate reality that Indigo offers.

I’m getting a 7/10 for creepiness but I still don’t understand what the motive is. Control seems to be a thing but I can’t figure out what else there is that pushes Indigo to do this to people.

I don’t think Azure is dead. I’m starting to believe that Indigo is actually Azure or she was a part of her imagination because she never had a friend before she met Azure. Bridegroom seems to be really in love with Indigo but I think she could have put a spell on him or his mentally ill. It is eerie, but I find the book to be more intriguing than eerie at this point, so I’ll say a 6/10.
