I hope you are all excited for Day 2 of the December Adult Book readalong of Faebound by Saara El-Arifi. Yesterday we left off on a cliffhanger with the introduction of the fae!
Today we are reading from chapter 11 to the end of chapter 17. Let’s dive back into the story!

Imna is the one that told Lettle to go to Gural and become a diviner because of a prophecy he spoke about her, I truly feel like she will become so strong.
Lettle was discovered so easily by the obeah, they have all been captured by the fae.
At least there is other types of magic besides drum fire!
Why is Lettle trying to aggravate them by asking if they eat humans!
I lowkey like the fae as their magic seems interesting!
Lettle seems to know more as she paid attention to the faerytale’s!
All the fae live in one big cavern that is sustained by a fraedia crystal, it is a whole city I love it!
I sense a romance between Yeeran and Furi, as Furi is the most beautiful thing she has seen?
All this time and the elves were the bad guys for killing the obeah which indirectly killed the fae?
Someone in power should of known this information.
Furi is a Princess of the fae??? Yeeran killed her brother, this is not looking good for her.
Lettle really is action first and not a lot of thinking!
I am glad to see it is not just Lettle with a disability but lots of other elves and fae alike.
I love that they both got told they need to wash as they stink.
I am sensing a romance brewing between Lettle and Rayan and I need it now!
Faebound is someone that bonds to an obeah, I predict either Lettle or Yeeran will be able to do it.
I find the whole fae city very interesting like there is clear ranks within the fae of being Faebound or Lightless.
Not it being Yeeran’s execution.
Yeeran’s prison mate seems friendly but he is from Crescent tribe and has been locked up for 10 years, I think he is the old chieftain that disappeared.
Furi is going to be queen what a powerful ally to have.
I am unsure of the Queens they don’t seem trustworthy at all or even Furi’s cousin.
I knew that Yeeran would be able to bond to an obeah. This is going to be so fun to watch unfold!
Even the humans had magic? I wonder how they got beaten?
I understand why the fae are angry as this is a new situation but like Yeeran could help them, like potentially with better links to the elves and make them stop killing obeah.
I really love Pila I want an obeah of my own to talk to!
I think it is valid that she gets punished but why don’t they understand she didn’t know it would kill a Prince, like she didn’t know.
I can’t believe she hit Furi with her magic, I did giggle.
Training for 3 months that’s my favourite trope! Let the enemies fall in love!
Lettle is a good sister but she is always so fiesty, like I am worried for her!
I wonder how Lettle will tell her propehcies now, without the obeah.
They all took her being Faebound in stride but I understand why Lettle would be jealous as I would be the same.
Komi is out of prison and with the gang but I still don’t trust him, like why is no one asking more questions?
I wonder if Lettle will ever get an obeah? As she can’t communicate to Pila unfortunately.
They are all going to a ball! I hope there is dancing, flirting and potentially a crime committed.
Golan is such an iconic character I love him!
This section has given us a lot of information about the fae and I am loving it. All the tension is brewing.

Komi is starting to be one of my favorite characters because he’s funny. But I still don’t fully trust him. I agree that he might be the chieftain.
I love Pila!
I also have some doubts about Furi’s cousin. Like he’s too sweet? Something about having an enemies to lovers trope makes me nervous about when other characters are too nice.
I agree like why are they being so nice!
I don’t trust Komi either! I agree that he’s probably the Crescent chieftain (Akomido) 👀

Personally, I love Komi so far; I think that he has a lot of adjusting to do after being in complete solitude for a decade – he seems so sweet!
I predict an enemies to lovers scenario happening between Yeeran and Furi, also Lettle and Rayan end game.
The more we go into this book the more suspicious I am of Salawa though, there is something weird that I can’t really put my finger on about her.
I don’t think Lettle will be faebound to an obeah though, I think Yeeran could potentially have some fae heritage though!
I’d love to be a fae in this world honestly, being able to communicate to my own obeah!
Yeeran might as they have different dads! 💜
I also think that there is a higher reason that she was able to become faebound. I have to admit that I find it difficult that she doesn’t really question her heritage herself but that the others seem more open to it. Maybe it’s because fae are the bad guys in her worldview, so it might be difficult for her to open up for that thought.
I really like Pila and watching Yeeran learn to trust her. What a shock that must have been! These chapters moved really quickly for me. I am very wary of the two Queens, I think they are doing things based on what they feel they need to do but will stab Yeeran in the back.
I love Golan’s character, he’s great!

I am excited to see how their relationship evolves. Up to this point I have to admit that I do not feel their connection. But that might be because I have the feeling Yeeran is still very closed up due to her worldview. I think tat will change going forward. Love the in head communication though and can’t wait for them to establish a closer connection.
I do not trust Komi one bit. I think he’s hiding something (like who he really is perhaps?).
As for Lettle getting an obeah, I don’t think so. I think that’s just for Yeeran’s journey as a character and there’s something else in store for Lettle.
I can’t wait to find out all the secrets of the fae. I’m assuming somethings going to get revealed resulting in Yeeran realizing they can’t escape and need to stay and help the fae with something. Maybe the blight that keeps getting vaguely mentioned?
Komi is super untrustworthy in my opinion! 💜

About the prophecy. Yes, when she did not remember the twilight reign from her prophecy I was like … bet she will find it out soon. 🙂
I love the expansion of this world and getting to learn more about the fae. I’m interested to know what will happen with Yeeran and Salawa should things progress with Furi.

Nope bad felling about him and the prophecy ( pretty sure a queen will be poison ) and I think it will be him . And it’s been 10 years… I’m pretty sure he is Akomido the two blade tyran ( I came back to chap 9 ) KOMI. !!! You know !!!!!

Komi being that missing chieftain didn’t even cross my mind as I was reading… but now that you mention it, I think it could be a real possibility! When he said that he’s not the same person he was 10 years ago… maybe that means he’s no longer evil, & that we can trust him?
I don’t think Lettle will get an Obeah…since Yeeran is probably part fae on her father’s side. …..unless that’s what the author wants us to think! Maybe there will be a twist where we find out it’s on their mothers side. I hope so, because Lettle deserves an Obeah. & I want one too! I love Pila so much already
Komi is an unknown. I wonder if he maybe had an inkling that the fae were real and that led to him getting captured. It would make since if he saw them use magic or have such large obeah then he’d follow them and of course he got captured.
I hope Lettle gets an obeah, but I think her being a diviner is going to be way more important. Like her prophecy about the twilight pair is clearly about the Queens right? So clearly they will be poisoned during the initiation and that’s going to cause an all out war between Fae and Elf. I wonder if Komi is behind that or if a Fae does it to start the war, after all the Elves have been killing them for hundreds of years, even if they didn’t know it.
Fae have been trapped in Mossima for centuries. It might seem like paradise but its a gilded cage for them. Elves have been at war with each other for so long that it’s literally called the Forever War. I think I’d prefer to be a Fae. I’m really wondering though where are all the humans, like are we sure they actually died out??
I think some of the humans must still be alive! 💜
It is so interesting that the fae bond with the obeah! It’s giving Fourth Wing and I’m here for it. I’m very interested to see what else we’ll learn tomorrow!
Do you think Komi is trustworthy?
I’m not too sure about Komi being trustworthy or not. At least the fae validated his story about being with them for years as a prisoner. But one of the characters made a good point: they are all elves and they need to stick together in this strange new world. The other comments are saying that he might be a chieftain. And, I’ll admit….I missed the part about the fact that one was missing.
Do you think Lettle will get an obeah?
I do not think Lettle will get an obeah. I do think that she will “get something else”. Like maybe she’ll find a way to hone her fortune telling without using the organs of an obeah. I definitely think she’ll go through some sort of journal that lets her find herself.
Would you prefer to be a fae or elf?
I think I would prefer to be a fae. They have been trapped, but at least they haven’t been involved with the Forever war. Though, I hope to learn more about what happened to the humans, as the current story says that the fae killed them all.
So much happened in this section! We get Yeeran becoming Faebound and getting out of her execution, Lettle developing feelings for Rayan, and Komi is a complete unknown (maybe he’s the missing chieftain?). I’m so intrigued!
I don’t trust Komi, something feels off about him.
I anticipated Yeeran becoming bounded, but when it actually happened I was so incredibly excited, like “yes! Yes! Yes!”.

I am not sure whether Lettle will get an obeah, but I think she will get powerful and find a way to tell prophecies again.
I love the fae so far, don’t really trust them, but I prefer their way of life so far compared to the elves. Also love that they respect life and don’t eat animals.

I finally caught up!
I didn´t immediatly distrust Komi when Yeeren first met him in the prison, but something about him made me sure that he´s the two-bladed-Tyrant when he joined the others in their new living quarters!
As for Lettle also getting an Obeah – I don´t think so. I don’t see it furthering the stroyline or character development at all.
Another thought that I had when Lettle found her prophecy journal and reread her last prophecy – is it about Yeeren and Fury? Pila was described with pearly, silver eyes and Furi is constantly compared to the color gold, so…?!

since this is my first readalong and I am late, I don’t know if anyone will get notifications when I answer on their comments. But was already excited to read your comments and maybe I’ll get some answers anyway. 🙂
I got so excited she Yeeran and Lila get to communicate by thought alone. I love when that happens in books because it just opens up a new way of communication and amazing side comments by the other character.
The relationship between the sisters seems so real and interesting. I love how we get more and more information on how they grew up and what pulled them apart. Especially how their ideologies turned out so different after the mothers death.
I do not trust Komi at all and hope that Rayan stays vary of him. I am sure as well that he is the missing chief that killed his mom.
I really enjoy Lettle as a character. I know some of her actions don’t seem to be thought through but she just seems so warm and naturally good hearted.
No, I don’t. As soon as I heard his imprisonment had started 10 years ago, it was too coincidental with the old chieftain’s sudden disappearance. Which is sad, because he was starting to be my favorite, but that’s ok, because Pila is my favorite. 🥰
I don’t know if she will. I think Yeeran is secretly half fae and that her absence is the reason for the blight continuing. I think they’re going to discover that the blight either stops or reverses, but it’ll take awhile to connect it to Yeeran “returning” to Morisma. I’m not sure what we’ll discover about Yeeran’s father [it’s possible it’s the prince she killed, but I’m not sold on that], but I think we’ll discover he’s fae.
I’d prefer to be whatever allows me to have an obeah! 😂
1. Do you think Komi is trustworthy?
I’m actually not sure if he is trustworthy or not. I am convinced that he is the chieftain from Crescent, but I can also see how he has atoned for his crimes somehow and has changed by being in prison for a decade.
2. Do you think Lettle will get an obeah?
No I don’t think so. I believe she is fully Elf and thus can’t being Faebound.
3. Would you prefer to be a fae or elf?
I’m leaning more towards Fae purely because it would seem amazing to become Faebound!
Komi being a prisoner when all the Fae want Elves dead, it should be suspicious why he is being held prisoner instead. Someone should be the villain and I don’t think it’s Hosta.
Pila and Yeeran being faebound, she could really be part-fae. Yeeran and Furi, bring on enemies-to-lovers.
I don’t think Lettle will be bound to an obeah.
The story is getting really interesting! Yeeran being Faebound was to be expected, since that’s the name of the book. I don’t think Lettle will also be faebound, but she might find other ways of divination. I hope she and Rayan are endgame.
Yeeran is attracted to Fury, so that will be fun to watch! I honestly don’t like the loyalty she holds for Salawa.
Komi might very well be Akomiko, since he’s been missing. I don’t trust him yet, I wonder what part he will play in the story.
I would rather be fae, the magic system, the way of life (despite the curse) and the chance to bound with an obeah sound amazing. The elf’s and their war story not so much.
To be a fae and have an obeah would be an amazing thing!

I don’t. In all honesty, I don’t believe the Elf’s have loyalty. They get rid of their people to quick rather than forgive and retrain. It seems as though the Fae arrest if there is probable cause , so I think Komi did something and potentially untrustworthy to have been arrested.
Do you think Lettle will get an obeah?
Yea! I am so excited for it to happen too. I think she she becomes Faebound she will once again have access to divination without having to use their carcasses in order to see prophecies. I think being Faebound will actually make her prophecies stronger and clearer.
Would you prefer to be a fae or elf?
Fae. They seem to care more about their own than the elves do. I honestly thing the elves are very black and white and do not give room for error at all. They only accept perfection and if that is not achieved you will be replaced. Less about the person more numbers and data driven. Where the fae care about their people and the creatures around them. They have compassion.
I agree I feel like Elves are mainly loyal to their tribe!

Absolutely not. He is definitely creating a facade. I mean his name is kind of a giveaway to me A’Komi’do. The man is keeping secrets and is going to be responsible for something.
Do you think Lettle will get an obeah?
I do not think she will, her divination path will lead her to someone else.
Would you prefer to be a fae or elf?
I think I’d be an elf because being a fae presents a double-edged sword if you are not Lightless. Being bound to an Obeah sounds great for its companion and magical affinity, but the possibility of dying and taking the Obeah with, or you slipping because of your Obeah being unalived sounds very difficult to live with. Especially with the inevitability of war this book seems to be pointing at.
Oh okay, so I thought that the obeah were perhaps people able to turn but I like fae bonding the beasts even better! I love Pila!
I did think that Komi was trustworthy and he seemed cool but then after reading the comments here I realised that I missed that clue completely and he may actually be the missing chieftain. It makes sense actually. But even if he is the one I don’t think he’ll be a danger to the other elves because he is stuck there just as they are.
I don’t think Lettle will get an obeah. It is unheard of that they will bond to anyone else than a fae and if it would now happen again as it did with Yeeran it would sound too much in my opinion.
If I had to choose I’d probably want to be a fae, they have some kind of magic and they just seem a bit cooler. I don’t like the elves constantly being in the war so being a fae in this world seems a bit better in my opinion. Also being able to bond is way cooler!
