Hello fairies!
Welcome to day 4 of our readalong of Nectar of the Wicked by Ella Fields.Β Can you believe that we are almost at the end! I don’t want to leave these characters and the world behind!
The pace of the story is really heating up and I’m so eager to find out what is going to happen…
Today we are reading from Chapter 17 to the end of Chapter 21! Let’s dive in!
Please be warned, the following section will include spoilers for Nectar of the Wicked by Ella Fields from chapter 17 to 21. Please only read on if you have finished this section!
β!SPOILERS!β
After Florianβs rage at the festival because of three Fae men touching Tullia, she is summoned downstairs and finds the three men all tied up and beaten to a pulp. Reminder to self: never anger Florianβ¦
The next thing Tullia knows, he is screaming at the men that they dared touch his precious and calls her βmineβ. Is it bad that I kinda like that? Only if heβs Fae of course and a Fae King! Tullia explains that they were not the men, and I think she hasnβt got time for them as she needs help with her βevolvementβ in the final stages of becoming a mature faerie.
Someβ¦veryβ¦ steamy moments happen as Florian does as she requests. Their connection only grows but Tullia reminds herself that she shouldnβt take his words too seriously as Florian does not have a heartβ¦
After a long process…we see some elements of romance between the two as Florian brings her breakfast in bed. Honestly I think that is so romantic!
Florian explains some interesting information, that Fae females will go through this process until they find a mate. Interestingg, I mean if they were mates it would explain their extreme possessiveness towards each other!
Tullia wants to move past this conversation for some reasonβ¦and shows Florian all the birds that have gathered on their balcony! He explains that Baneberry royals have an affinity for nature. Honestly this makes sense and why perhaps Tullia was drawn to helping Snow.
Ohhhh we are drinking each other’s blood now are weβ¦Tullia bites Florian as it seemed natural to her but Florian reveals that citizens of Baneberry donβt think it to be natural and that it will weaken her overtime as it is almost binding…
It seems that Florian is now conflicted with his revenge plan, especially after the intimacy he has shared with Tullia. He still wants his revenge but doesnβt seem to want to use her anymore, even if she is the Princess of the country that he is wanting to ruin. Ahhhh I can feel the indecision and heβs definitely in loooove with her even if he wonβt admit it!!
OMG OMGGGG Tullia just asked Florian if they were mates! I mean Iβd like to say I didnβt have my suspicions but to see her straight up ask him, wow go Tullia! Florian basically confirms this by not answering! Another shock, Tullia admits that she is falling in love with him, but itβs not a celebration as Tullia is sick of him not catching her when she needs him and Florian says nothing to her confession…noooooo!
When Tullia wakes Florian is gone and urgh I do feel for her! Her personal guard however informs her that she is free to explore so long as she isnβt alone. Tullia wishes to go to the city and her guard, Zayla says that can be arranged as long as she has more guards with her. I am definitely sus about this as I donβt think Florian wouldβve agreed to this somehow.
Tullia is now off to the city in a carriage with her two guards. They are behaving strangely and, being smart, she realises that they are not in fact on the way to the city. Waiting for her moment, she throws herself out of the carriage! Unfortunately she doesnβt get very far as Zayla can materialise and catches up to her in a heartbeat. Tullia, although hasnβt fully manifested any powers, locks eyes with one of the horses and in the next moment it is attacking the other guard Fellan! Oh gosh, Tullia gets cut by Zaylaβs blade and is in bad shape but somehow she manages to materialise back in her apartment in Crustle! This scene was so intense, my heart is hammering!
Stumbling around in Crustle and bleeding, Tullia is seeking somewhere safe but ends up bumping back into the man with the golden eyes. He calls her my Princess but then kidnaps her!!
Baneberry! Tullia has ended up in Baneberry and the first person she sees is her Father. She is clearly overwhelmed and cannot believe that she has finally made it. But our poor Tullia starts to realise what a predicament being Florianβs mate has put them both in.
Tullia and Molkan, her Father, have a brief conversation where she asks him why he killed Lilitha. Although he explains his point of view he averts his eyes at the question. Heβs definitely sus!
Molkan leaves her alone and Tullia goes to bathe, but she cannot do that in peace as she is ambushed in the bathroom by the golden-eyed man named Avrin. He subtly interrogates her about her time in Hellebore with Florian, obviously not believing what she is saying. He then confirms that all the servants cannot speak and are all illiterate so they cannot spill any secrets if caughtβ¦I think this makes Baneberry more monstrous than Hellebore.
Todayβs reading session was, I think, the most intense yet! Just as I keep thinking we canβt have anymore drama, boom many more things happen!
Do we think Molkan is telling the truth or do we think there is more to Baneberry than meets the eye?
How do we feel about Tullia finally meeting her Father, do we think they will form a familial bond?
Any speculations as to what will happen in our final section tomorrow?
I cannot wait to hear all your thoughts!
Love,
Isla

Do we think Molkan is telling the truth or do we think there is more to Baneberry than meets the eye?
Something does NOT sit right with Molkan or Baneberry in general, i donβt trust them!! He seems far detached from the idea of her as his daughter, i know the fae care and love differently but he seems indifferent towards her, she is once again just another pawn in a war between men! They just want information from her, no interest in hearing about how sheβs been for the last 20 years?
How do we feel about Tullia finally meeting her Father, do we think they will form a familial bond?
NO i do not π« i have a bad feeling and i think Florian may in fact be the good guy
Any speculations as to what will happen in our final section tomorrow?
Bad bad things
Molkan is giving me such bad vibes…I feel so bad for Tullia because she just wants to have a home and belong somewhere. I agree and I’m a bit scared to see what is going to happen!
Molkan is for sure not telling the truth. The tongueless servants and the whole atmosphere is so off.
Honestly I think Molkan is not a good dad and Tullia deserves more. Will they form a bong? I think that Tullia would like that but just because she is searching for the place where she belongs the most.
I just know tomorrows sections is going to end on a cliffhanger and we are not ready π
I was sooo disappointed with the way Molkan reacted to having Tullia back. I was really hoping that he’d been secretly keeping tabs on her in Crustle and making sure she was ok. But his vibes have been way off and I don’t trust him π¬
Honestly me too…I was holding out some hope that he wouldn’t be awful!
I’m a bit behind on reading π but just wanted to comment that I just love art and details that went into this book π The mushrooms and butterflies on the edges which I love because Florian nicknames her Butterfly π¦ The climbing red ivy in the end pages as well as the mushrooms π the foiled castle in the hardcover! I hope there’s going to be a SE for book 2 just as thoughtful and beautiful because this definitely a top 5 favorite on my shelf πππππ
Take your time reading! π And I’m so happy that you love this edition!
Do we think Molkan is telling the truth or do we think there is more to Baneberry than meets the eye?
I think Baneberry has lots of hidden secrets that I want to find out about.
How do we feel about Tullia finally meeting her Father, do we think they will form a familial bond?
I’m glad she’s finally found him and has closure there but I think he’s going to turn out to be a really bad guy.
Any speculations as to what will happen in our final section tomorrow?
I think Florian’s going to go crazy because she is his mate and he will do anything to get her back
Yes I agree that closure is good but also I think she won’t find the answers that she was looking for…
I do not trust Molkan, or anyone in Baneberry. There is definitely something off about that place. I hope Tullia gets the answers she deserves. I am so scared this will end on a cliff hanger ! I have definitely loved this book and all of the characters in it.
Do we think Molkan is telling the truth or do we think there is more to Baneberry than meets the eye?
100% more to Baneberry than meets the eye, something is off about that place. Feels evil or sick.
How do we feel about Tullia finally meeting her Father, do we think they will form a familial bond?
I do not think so, I hope for her sake she gets the answers she deserves and seeks. But I also feel she will be disappointed. Maybe Gane knew all along and which is why he told her not to go to fae lands.
Any speculations as to what will happen in our final section tomorrow?
Idk but it canβt be good. I am sure Florian will come for her, I believe he started to love her.
I’m scared as well for a cliffhanger! π But I’m so glad to hear that you are loving the book and characters!
TODAY’S COMMENT BOX IS RANDOMLY A COMMENT BOX. REJOICE.
Do we think Molkan is telling the truth or do we think there is more to Baneberry than meets the eye?
With faeries, there’s always more.
How do we feel about Tullia finally meeting her Father, do we think they will form a familial bond?
I’m not sure…he seemed less rabid than I expected. But the tongue thing with the servants is still messed up.
Any speculations as to what will happen in our final section tomorrow?
Trullia will find out everyone in Baneberry is evil, destroy them all, and deliver her father’s head to Molkan and then they’ll have wild violent sex. (Or, I have no idea.)
I feel like with as badly as things have gone since she went with Florian she was naive in thinking it could be solved by escaping to Baneberry and her father. He is definitrly not right and does not seem happy to have his daughter rather than being happy that Florian no longer has leverage.
I am sad that Zayla betrayed Tullia though, she has never had a proper female friend and that could have been such a good thing for her.
I definitely don’t like Avrin either, I feel like the king may seem him as a son and now that Tullia is back he plans to marry her off to him.
She just seems to go from one bad situation to another.
I really want to know what excuse Molkan has for basically casting his daughter aside and not seeming to care what befell her in Middleland
There’s definitely more to Baneberry than meets the eye. I had suspicions since she found the first Baneberry born with their tongue cut out and it was confirmed that Florian hadn’t done it that it had been done by Molkan/someone with instructions from Molkan that did it in Baneburry. Someone/a kindgom that does that has a lot more to hide than meets the eye.
No, I don’t think so. I think there’s too much bad history/blood between them, and I think when he finds out that Florian is her mate, it’ll kill any bit of chance left. Even though that would be out of Tullia’s control, I think he’ll “blame” her for it and cut her off/want nothing to do with her after that.
Hmm, I’m not sure. Maybe Tullia being attacked in his own kindgom and then her being kidnapped to Baneberry will make him escalate his timeline for war with Baneberry, and wat will begin on Tullia’s behalf – just not the way Florian originally planned. I don’t know if we’ll get to see the first days of the war, or if the book will end with a line/scene confirming that Florian is delaring war on Baneberry, but I think that’s the most likely ending to this book!
1. Do we think Molkan is telling the truth or do we think there is more to Baneberry than meets the eye?
I do believe he is telling what he believes is the truth, but there must be more to the story!
2. How do we feel about Tullia finally meeting her Father, do we think they will form a familial bond?
Yeah, no way. He is suspicious and Tullia’s naivety will come bite her I believe
3. Any speculations as to what will happen in our final section tomorrow?
Florian will come get her!
First I’m very proud of myself for reading so much in a day. I hope to have this book finished before I go to bed so I can start the next readalong on time!
Do we think Molkan is telling the truth or do we think there is more to Baneberry than meets the eye? There is definitely more to Baneberry than meets the eye. Especially since that last line about the servants. Like no way is that normal, or even okay!
How do we feel about Tullia finally meeting her Father, do we think they will form a familial bond? They met in an odd way. I don’t think she will form a bond with her father. Because, I think there will be too many secrets. I don’t think we will get to all of them in this book though. There’s something missing.
Any speculations as to what will happen in our final section tomorrow?
I think we will hear more about the struggle between the two kingdoms. But, we will hear about it from the Baneberry side. Florian didn’t really tell Tullia what happened, so she won’t hear the other side immediately. But once I get to know her family better, I have a feeling that I will like Florian more. Haha!
